This is a newer property that opened in the Spring and my husband and I stayed here for 1 night. We really wished we had at least 3 days here, from the location, the room, and the unreal cafe overlooking the jungle canyons, De Potrek did not disappoint. Pros: - Massive room, that was clean, quiet, and with a beautiful balcony view of the mountains - The views - from the room, the grounds, and the cafe you have beautiful views of the jungle canopies, mountains, and steep farm plots - Property manager was very helpful and friendly. His English was good and we were able to book a private jeep tour to Bromo and missed the crowds as we left at 8am and it was totally worth it! - The private jeep tour was unreal. Our driver was SO nice, he did not speak English but the property manager gave him our agenda we requested and we had 0 issues. He stopped when we wanted to take a photo and even asked us on his own if we wanted to stop at a couple of random view points - Location, only a short 10-15 minute drive to the main entrance of Mt. Bromo - The cafe... honestly this is one of Indonesia's best cafes. It's located at the foothills of the property, overlooks the canyon. The coffee is EXCELLENT, all locally sourced / roasted, beautiful latte art for coffee and even hot chocolates, they are not messing around here if you are a coffee lover you should at least come here to the cafe - Staff - super friendly and helpful, we had a driver booked for us to Surabaya the next day who was on time and a great driver with great English - The food - breakfast was great, we were served local Indonesian dishes for options, it was excellent Cons: - The lights outside of the room were super bright and lit up the room at night. I'd suggest hanging a small curtain above the entrance door window in the rooms so that it doesn't distract light sleepers like myself - The entrance window didn't shut in our room, again not a huge deal but it was pretty cold in the evenings, however the duvets were super warm and comfortable - Not really a con but something to note, if you are booking a day trip / tour just be sure to let the manager know where you'd like to stop so he can translate this to the driver as he doesn't speak English. I know for some this was an issue but it's really not a big deal, our day trip was perfect with no problems at all - The street facing rooms had quite a bit of noise from the motorbikes travelling throughout the night. I think it stopped / died down around 9:30pm but something to note if you're a light sleeper and not used to that - Cafe doesn't open until 1pm on Mondays or 8am any other day. Understandable given local culture and that most people do that sunrise tours but if you are looking to grow for tourists outside of Indonesia opening the cafe at 7am would be good as people usually return around 8am - 9:30am from the sunrise treks (and a latte is always good after an early morning ;)) Overall I would stay here again
