It was a wonderful place, nice and quiet, with a beautiful garden and a lovely small pool. We were lucky that there were hardly any other people, so we had the whole place to ourselves. It was also great that there were some animals walking around in the garden. A perfect spot to stay for a night while traveling onward.

After a warm, friendly welcome, we enjoyed settling in to a comfortable room where all the little extras guests might need had been thought of. The garden and pool area were very pleasant and breakfast was an exceptional spread.

We recently stayed at a charming boutique 18th-century manor house tucked beautifully into a serene valley, and it was an absolute delight from start to finish. The location is magical—the historic thatch building nestles perfectly into the landscape, surrounded by rolling hills and lush greenery. We were treated to an abundance of lovely wildlife right from our windows and during gentle walks around the grounds: birdsong at dawn, springbok grazing in the feild, and even the occasional hadeda gracing the lawns. It felt like a peaceful escape into nature and relax by the pool without sacrificing comfort. The hospitality was genuinely warm and attentive—the staff anticipated every need with a personal touch, making us feel truly welcomed and cared for throughout our stay. Breakfasts were a highlight each morning: wholesome, hearty, and bursting with variety. They offered a generous spread of local delicacies, from freshly baked breads and pastries to farm-fresh eggs, artisanal cheeses, homemade preserves, and seasonal fruits sourced nearby. Options included classic full English elements alongside lighter choices like yogurt with local honey and granola - all prepared with care and bursting with flavor. It was the perfect way to start the day, feeling nourishing and indulgent at the same time. Overall, this manor house delivered a perfect blend of historic elegance, natural beauty, and heartfelt service. We’d return in a heartbeat for another restorative getaway. Highly recommended!

We had such a lovely stay at Rothman Manor with our two children (6 and 3) for 3 nights. We were greeted and given a tour around the ground by Johan. Our room was spacious, clean, with a lovely patio overlooking the pond garden area. We had our breakfast on the garden patio at the main house which was beautiful. And a little walk down the garden you could watch a zebra and springboks play around. Swellendam itself is a nice little area to explore. It was such a great start to our holiday. Thank you to all the staff at Rothman Manor, the service was impeccable and you were all so accommodating.

Our rooms exceeded our expectations. Beautiful top floor apartment which was amazing. Outdoor area was also lovely and the wildlife an added bonus. Lovely staff and super breakfast.

The room we had faced the pool. The breakfast was amazing and the staff very polite and helpful. It was lovely to wander down to the field area to watch the springboks and zebra. We would hope to return here and would recommend it to everyone.

We stayed for only one night but the accommodation was superb. A great suite. Seeing the animals, including the Zebra and Springboks in the field was lovely. Great breakfast and all in all, exceeded expectations. Great value for money.
