Hotel Tainan

I booked a deluxe queen room (windowless). The hotel had been renovated, and windowless rooms don't ventilate well. Maybe I'm just sensitive, but I kept smelling renovation fumes. After a few hours, I started feeling nauseous and sick to my stomach. Around 10 PM, I asked the hotel to help me switch rooms, but they said it would cost extra... (Personally, I feel that if the room hadn't smelled, I wouldn't have needed to switch rooms or pay more. Plus, it was already past 10 PM, and changing rooms is quite a hassle... But I paid the extra, since I'm so sensitive 😢). When I switched rooms, I checked the price online around 10 PM, and it was 1853 RMB (since I checked in on a weekday, Tuesday, I thought I'd just pay the difference). To clarify, I booked the room much earlier for 1712 RMB, but the hotel said they'd charge me an extra 400 RMB, making the total 2112 RMB 🥹... I felt this was quite unreasonable! Why should I, after all the trouble of changing rooms, have to pay more than the going rate for that night? After discussing it with the hotel, they eventually reduced the extra charge to 300 RMB... Overall, I was quite disappointed. Who wants to switch rooms in the middle of the night? And throughout the whole process, no one even asked about my well-being. When they told me the room price, and I voiced that it seemed unreasonable, they just vaguely said that prices vary across different travel websites... Sigh, I probably won't stay here again next time 🥲
