Clean, simple hotel that was perfectly fine

We read the reviews and had low expectations but we were anticipating arriving quite late and this was cheap and close to the autoroute. We booked simply to rest for the night. The poor reviews do not exaggerate. Firstly it was difficult to identify the place as there was no sign at the entrance (it was lying on the grass) and the Premiere Classe next door (part of the same group) had the logo on the gable wall painted over. The receptionist was unwelcoming and uncommunicative, taking several minutes clicking on his laptop trying to identify a room, as if the place was heavily booked instead of fairly deserted. He gruffly demanded the city tax, we were not offered breakfast so assumed it would not be available, as mentioned by some reviews. The fabric of the building was shabby and neglected with peeling paint and rubber matting that was a trip hazard. Strangely enough they had invested in two EV charging points which wouldn’t have been our priority. The room had been made up with a bottom sheet, which was clean, and two pillows. There was a duvet and cover but we didn’t use it as there was no a/c or even a fan. One of the pillows had deep creases on both sides making it uncomfortable to lie on. Whilst there was plenty of hot water the towels looked like someone had cleaned their shoes on them and the bath mat was dirty and tattered. The window gave out onto the landing so it had to be kept closed. Sleeping was almost impossible with no air circulating. As the hotel doesn’t seem to operate its restaurant we sought out a local one and had a great dinner at Atlantis seafood/Chinese restaurant just 5 minutes away. Next morning we noticed some people going into the restaurant for breakfast but we didn’t chance it as we couldn’t wait to get on the road.

Breakfast excellent. Room clean. Only net curtains on window, no blind so unfortunately landing lights penetrated the room

Comfortable bed,clean room,spacious and great blackout blind.Great shower,quality towels.Really good TV and excellent breakfast. More than satisfied with the whole experienc and would happily stay there again.

Good clean hotel. Pillows are poor Good clean hotel & friendly service. Only issue was only one pillow which was wafer thin

Like - nothing, run down completely properly with mushrooms on the outside walls, stinking rooms.

SMOKIEST SMELLIEST HOTEL EVER. THE SMELL OF SMOKE IN OUR ROOM WAS UNBELIEVABLY BAD. we had to arrive super early in the morning so there was nobody to complain too, but after a long drive from Calais, to be confronted with that smell was discgusting. My wife’s room was better. We had two kids with us who had to endure it too. To top it off a sign on the wall said €50 euro fine for smoking. IT WAS SO BAD WE CAN STILL SMELL IT IN OUR NOSES DAYS LATER.
