Gwesty Minffordd Hotel

Not stay here but just did a camping 3days 2nights near around and have dinner here two times that beef & chicken meal with Snowdonia Craft IPA. Fair price & nice staff. The restaurant also a bit old style & comfortable

This hotel is in a fabulous location and the hosts are welcoming and friendly. The rooms were very clean & comfortable, absolutely no complaints though there are no TV's if that is something you require. Food was good as were the drinks we had of an evening, but note, only bottled beers are available when out of season. However, the weather was a little chilly, maybe a ground frost at night. The hotel was very cold! The rooms had radiators that came on during the evening and went off probably around 9pm . . . and they were not very hot, giving the impression that the boiler water temperature was set low. There were fan heaters to be found in the wardrobe but they did little to raise the temperature to a comfortable level. Certainly couldn't be left on during the day. The lounge areas were uncomfortably cold; the log burner is the most inefficient I have ever come across - was it no more than 4kw? And opening the vent didn't help because our host kept closing it. We had our evening meal sitting in coats - I had 3 layers and was still cold, we were all cold, 10 of us. On the 2nd night we ate elsewhere that was more comfortable. 2nd night in the lounge, sat around in coats with 3 fan heaters on, still cold. Just beware . . . . . . we wouldn't return.

For the first time in a year we were able to visit the good ladies Mum. Looking to book somewhere near and cosy the Minnfford fitted the bill. Having only just reopened full board had some restrictions which Gordon followed to a tee. That said he gave us a warm welcome and was extremely polite and helpful. The accommodation was spotless and comfortable. Breakfast was a bit too early for my Wife’s liking but again this was due to the current situation. Breakfast, served instead of a buffet style help yourself was served to your table. The breakfast was plentiful, tasty and well served, not being fully staffed as yet made no difference to the service which was efficient and friendly. We had an evening meal with Mum and that was every bit a pleasure as breakfast. The lounge bar was cosy and again great service from Gordon, the owner. No draft beer as yet but some good bottled craft beers on offer. On the down side, especially my wife’s but not mine there was no TV in the room or anywhere else. This suited me but on the downside I may have to watch five days recordings of the bobbins soaps now we are home. All in all a very well run hotel with good value for your money.

Nice spot to stay for hiking in the area. Would stay again.
