The hotel is well located with good facilities and clean, spacious rooms. The staff is attentive and the breakfast is good, although they wouldn't allow us to take a simple sandwich for our 8-hour trip on our last day, which was a bit disappointing.

The hotel is a bit old, but it is well maintained, very clean, and has a very good holiday feeling. The location is especially good. The town center is very lively and good for shopping (the Pizaa restaurant next to it is delicious). The hotel faces the sea, which is almost a private beach. The beach is of very good quality, with clear water and fine sand, extending far away and not deep. Although it is not as beautiful as the sea in Cancun, it is more suitable for playing (especially surfing). Although it is a public beach, the hotel's own lawn area is very large. You can rest under the benches and coconut trees in the hotel. You can go down two steps to the beach, so you don't need to go to the beach to compete with everyone for a position. The beach is very clean and popular. There are many surfboard rentals and surfing courses. You can even get a massage on the beach, which is very interesting. Tamarindo is a tourist hotspot. You can find a local travel agency to sign up for many short tours. We signed up for a 3-hour tour to watch turtles lay eggs in one night (November to April is the turtle laying season every year), which is very interesting. We only stayed for one night, but staying one more night would be more relaxing. In short, it is worth recommending.

We stayed here the first week of May and it was perfection! The included breakfast buffet was fantastic, the grounds are gorgeous and the customer service was impressive. We stayed in a sunset ocean view room & our only minor disappointment was that the bathrooms are tiny compared to newer hotels. but the beds were very comfortable in the rooms clean. The waterproof wristband key cards are a great idea! This is the first hotel I've ever seen this. Definitely visit the family pool across the street as there are many cool iguanas there. We booked surf lessons through the hotel which was a very fun & memorable experience (instructor Fabian). We will definitely return to the Tamarindo Diria!

The resort is beautiful and centrally located. There are several pools and on- site activities desk. You are within walking distance to many restaurants, and you are right on the beach. The restaurant breakfast is wonderful. It has a great variety of breads, pastries, fruit and a station for eggs your way as well as another station for pancakes and waffles. The staff is very efficient while being friendly.

First the upgrade to a walk out villa with a pool was greatly appreciated. The rooms were well maintained and the grounds were beautiful with a lush and well maintained tropical vibe. Monkeys galore. There were four pools with the largest a family swim up bar. We also had an all adult section. Great walking distance to multiple restaurants and shops, the service was friendly and a great buffet each morning.

While the property is in a beautiful ocean front location, the overall value simply doesn’t match the price. Sleeping was difficult for several reasons. The “comforter” was essentially just a single sheet, the walls are so thin that you can clearly hear conversations in neighboring rooms, and our ground-floor oceanfront room came with an unexpected all-night animal symphony on the roof and outside the room. Every night we woke up around the same time and spent about an hour listening to what sounded like monkeys or raccoons doing parkour above the ceiling. Service and amenities were also lacking. For example, It was difficult to get fresh towels, the gym is tiny with only one treadmill, and the complimentary beachfront chairs on the grass were often completely occupied, leaving few places to relax. Your choices are the dining area chairs or renting. Compared to other hotels in Costa Rica, the staff rarely came across as warm or welcoming. Instead of feeling like valued guests, we often felt like we were inconveniencing them by asking for assistance (getting room cleaned when skipped, grabbing a towel when one was not provided, etc.) For the price we paid, we expected a much higher level of comfort, amenities, and hospitality. Unfortunately, the experience did not provide the value we were hoping for given the price tags.

We had a great trip and Diria was amazing. I can’t imagine staying anywhere else! If you’re in the restaurant, Brenda is the best!

Higher end resort style thing on the beach, very cool, very big and lots of guests, I really enjoyed it, they had a pool area too on other side of street. Fun!

Our room phone wasn't working, so we had to go downstairs to the front desk whenever we had a question. We made staff aware of this the first day, but there was never any follow up on this. Wrist bands were used to enter the room. Three of the four we received failed within the second try. On the good side, the buffet breakfast was excellent. And most of the staff were helpful and professional...especially Irene at the front desk. The worst thing that happened: I accidentally made two identical reservations for my trip, both for arrival on May 14, 2026, for a two-night stay. Upon arrival, the receptionist, Irene, noted the duplicate booking and I confirmed it was an honest mistake. However, when I followed up the next day, I was informed that the front desk manager had decided I was responsible for both reservations, resulting in an additional charge of over $800. If the hotel were full I could understand, but the hotel was far from full! I was told I could use this amount as a credit for a future stay, but I am 80 years old and this was a once-in-a-lifetime trip for me. The front desk appeared embarrassed about this decision and suggested appeal to Mr. David Gonzalo, a senior guest manager. I emailed him two weeks ago, and he has not had the courtesy to even reply.
