We arrived at the Stonefield Castle Hotel at 11pm after an awful 24 hours of delay-ridden travel; the warm service and comfort we were met with more than cheered up our weary group. We were shown to our comfortable rooms and informed that the hotel whisky bar would be kept open late solely for our benefit. After a very long day we were able to enjoy a lovely nightcap, and excellent conversation with the two fellows on duty who treated us like friends, before retiring to our cozy rooms.

As a lone traveller who was staying in Tarbert to get the ferry on 17th, the only restaruant in Tarbert was full. The alternative being a chippy- I went exploring and found the Stonefield Castle Hotel. There were a lot of cars outside sdo I was not thatb hopeful. Success- the staff were truly great, foubnd mr a window table in the restaurant- stunning views and dinner- Great Langustine, salmon fillet, ice cream and coffee. A bit thank you to everyone at the Stonefield and nexct time I'll stay there.

Second visit to this wonderful wee gem. Before I start, know this, it's a wee bit tired. It is also however very clean, staffed by people who quite clearly take pride in their castle hotel, the rooms are very comfortable, the food is absolutely tremendous, the setting is wonderful and the views from the dinning room are quite frankly absurdly jaw dropping. The gardens in summer are also quite magnificent. The sitting rooms downstairs take you back to a time when the world was just a bit of a better place and the ambience of the place is pretty hard to describe.....in a good way. I've been very blessed to have been to many amazing places in my life and fortunate enough to have stayed in many lovely places and this, on paper should not figure.....but we don't live our lives on paper and the Je Ne Sais quoi of Stonefield makes it my favorite place, it really does. Particular shout outs to Issac and the Aussie lad at dinner. The reception lady (Italian?) and the lad from Ayr who showed us to our room. All of the staff are an absolute credit th the hotel. If you are of a "Flash Harry/Flash Harriet" disposition, probably best pass on this place. It's really special and only really for people who "just know" :)

We had a wonderful experience staying at this stunning castle! We loved the ambience, the bar, the views from the dining room, the dinner, the breakfast, the grounds ! The staff , as has been often mentioned in previous reviews were so friendly and engaging. Special mention to Isaac for his bar service and morning service, to Marica for the pack of cards and to Grady who we hoping will be appearing at the Edinburgh Fringe soon on account of his sense of humour! Would love to visit again!

Everything about this castle hotel was completely on point. The room,the location,the food,the staff and the overall ambiance was just sublime. It was pure escapism at its very best. We stayed in a principle room that was beyond all our expectations. We have travelled extensively and I can honestly say it doesn't get better than this. I would thoroughly recommend anyone to stay here and soak up all that it has to offer. Absolutely stunning in every regard. Thank you to all at stonefield castle, it is a very special, romantic and fascinating place to stay. The island opposite the castle which you can access is an adventure in itself and the walk to nearby tarbert was just beautiful. Go and experience a Scottish castle at it's very best and lose yourself in all that it brings. Johnny and Natasha

What a stunning location to have an hotel. An excellent venue with attentive and friendly staff. The bedrooms are spacious, clean and well furnished. the bar and food service is excellent, the views across the loch from our bedroom and especially from the dining room. The dog friendly hotel is ideal for walks and even has it own island to walk around (tide permitting). An excellent venue, near to the town and harbour.

Do not not fall for a 5pm deal in the summer it might be lovely bcos you could go the garden walks however we went in March cold and wet so stayed inside . The room as you can see by photos is tired . We were tired driving for 3hrs to this run down castle. Our aa rosette burger can only be described as a greasy spoon. When a lightswitch is masking taped to the wall is it a 4 star !

We had such a lovely time at the Stonefield Castle Hotel. We were warmly welcomed at reception and shown to our room. The room was a good size , very clean , and the bed comfortable . Tea , coffee and biscuits were available in the room and there was a special bag of treats left out as it was Easter. We had dinner and breakfast and the food was lovely. The gardens are very well looked after and the views stunning. Staff are definitely the most friendly and genuinely caring I have ever met . Nothing was any trouble. We will definitely return.

Beautiful newly refurbished room with a loch view and a huge shower. Very comfy bed, perfectly warm and comfortable room. Great food. A special mention for Isaac who was so personable and genuine, thank you. Equally, Claire on reception was kind and helpful.
