The beautiful old buildings that make up the hotel are in the most picture perfect village of Altafulla and our expectations were v high for our little Spa Break. First Impressions : our suite was basic, lacking in any personality or chic soft furnishing touches. It felt very cold, clinical and like an unloved basic air b n b not a supposed 4 star historic hotel. The living area was also super dark, no real amenities in the bathroom besides nailed to the wall shower gel / shampoo. No luxe touches at all, no mini bar, coffee maker… nothing that I’ve come to expect from a European 4 star hotel. The lovely Italian male receptionist couldn’t have been more helpful tho he moved us almost immediately and continued to help us throughout our stay despite our issues so 5 stars for him. The housekeeping staff was also lovely and our waitress in the super fancy resto. Here are the list of issues that the hotel need to address: - Sinks are still shallow the water just splashes back at you. V much style over practicality - only 1 bathmat in a room for 2 people - grill in shower came off and moved around - no rug , no paintings/ photos/ no coffee machine or kettle / no mini bar - no room service - no tissues / cotton buds / body lotion / conditioner - safe was not working I had reserved spa slots and massages n advance but when we arrived the Spa is NOT a spa it’s a tiny facility with a v small jacuzzi type pool big enough for 4 people and another tiny plunge pool all in a very confined space which feels claustrophobic with more than 2 or 3 people in. The sauna is tiny as is the steam room which was not even working. Never mind we thought we will brave the cold and go for a lovely outdoor swim … another reason we choose this hotel as according to the website the pool would be open, it was not ! It was being dosed with chlorine and we were not allowed in. The spa had double booked our massages and in fact they could only accommodate one of us the following day and the therapist was one hour late as her car had broken down and when she did arrive made no apology, made my friend wait until she’d had a coffee and then administered a very poor massage with next to no pressure despite being asked several times to go harder. She didn’t ask any health questions about allergies or injuries …. Shockingly poor ! The dinner at the restaurant was v good if a little fancier that what we fancied but the pizza resto wasn’t open. The lighting in the restaurant v bright and lacking ambience as a result. The winery trip was interesting and the village is fabulous with a couple of great bars and restos and an amazing deli. It’s a shame about the hotel as it could be spectacular if the management spent some money on some tweaks that would make a world of difference to the guest experience. A good interior designer could help to warm up and personalise the gorgeous old buildings

We stayed for 1 night in August 2019. It is a location where you can get off the train in front of Taragona station and check in within 5 minutes. It is also convenient to move with large luggage. You can also walk to the old town of Taragona. It is an ordinary business hotel using one floor of the building. There is no safety box and refrigerator. Wifi is comfortable to connect. The room is not new but kept clean. I didn't eat at the hotel because breakfast was another price, but there are shops around early in the morning, so I ate a simple breakfast of croissants and cappuccino outside.

This is quite an innovative place, or at least it seems that way to me. The host, Xavi is a very good multi linguistic chappy and has created this place almost by himself. The rooms are super clean as is the entire building. There is a communal table and chairs downstairs and you can keep your food in a communal fridge, just mark it with your room number. It’s quite central, easy to get to and from anywhere from here in this busking and vibrant micro-city from here. Highly recommended, great value for money. Very deserving of its rating as 3rd best hotel in Tarragona.

Hotel was in a great location, close to the beach, train station and lots of cafes/shops / restaurants. Everything was walkable. The staff were all very friendly and helpful - eventhough we speak very limited spanish. Pastries and bottled water were provided each morning and there were tea and coffee facilities in the lobby. The hotel air conditioning was really strong, we never felt too hot overnight and the room was very clean and well presented!

The rooms are tiny. Paper thin walls. No bathroom door. Just a swinging glass door. Anything that happens in the bathroom is heard throughout the room. No in room coffee. If you are used to AC Marriott levels of service you will be disappointed here. We booked a family room for our family of three. We requested a higher level floor corner with a view. We received confirmation that the hotel would do everything they could to accommodate our request. The room they gave us was interior with a view of a brick wall and it was so small the three of us could barely stand at the same time, and no place to sit just on the bed. When I asked about them accommodating our request they told me that the people that respond to specific requests have no idea what types of rooms are available in the hotel. The reception staff was friendly yet very novice and did not understand the concept of taking care of the guest. I requested ice to take to our room and 15 minutes later, while waiting in the lobby, I received a little bucket with eight cubes of ice and was told the charge would be one euro for the ice. There was no manager on duty. Reception staff told me that this Hotel is for individual business travelers, not families. This is true. We had to purchase an additional room at full price to accommodate our son. The family room is not large enough to accommodate three people comfortably. We will not be staying here again and will be very hesitant about booking accommodations with AC Marriott again…

On Monday, March 7, we were staying with my family and I in this hotel and we had an incidence with the bathroom as it was fully attached, with all that it involves having children. With the aggravating of being almost morning (7 of the morning) , the two employees who attended us did it in a magistral way, resolving the problem in 10 minutes. The receptionist quickly gave us a room card that was empty for if we needed to get into the bathroom, at last it was not necessary to use it, but there is the detail. The cleaner in 5 minutes resolved the attack.

We were a bit aprehensive about holidaying here after reading all the mixed reviews. It was a last minute deal at this 3* Hotel. It's 20 minutes from the airport and that was on a coach transfer. The welcome from the Reception Staff was very warm and efficient. The lifts were both working whilst we were there but they were both a bit slow in arriving. We were only on the 3rd floor so we did walk up and down most days. The room had 2 double beds and was very clean. The room was cleaned everyday and we were given fresh towels. The meals were of a good standard and there was always a large variety to choose from. We did hear people complain about the food, but really couldn't understand why as we never found anything wrong. At breakfast the chef was on hand to make omlettes and cook fresh eggs. There were cereals, fruit juice, full cooked breakfast, cheeses, meats, breads, croissants etc. At lunchtime they would cook burgers, steak or sausage and of an evening they would cook steak and chicken. There was always a pasta dish, chips, salad, fresh cooked baguettes and a selection of cooked meats. (See photos) The pool was absolutely freezing but perhaps that was just due to it being October. The entertainment staff were coming to the end of their season but still did a great job. Simon was really friendly and took time out during the day to sit and chat with people. The Jet 2 Rep Phillip was brilliant and very knowledgeable on the area. He gave us plenty of tips even though we didn't book any trips with him. The bar staff were brilliant. Juan was so friendly and went out of his way to help people who wanted to improve their Spanish. He made such an effort with his Fancy Dress costumes all week as they were celebrating Halloween. If you like wine the ones they serve are of a good quality . The rooftop bar was closed due to it being so.late in the eason, but both the jacuzzis were on and the sunbeds, chairs and tables were out for use. The views from the rooftop terrace are beautiful. The terrace itself looked like it had recently been updated . I liked the fact that the pool area didn't open until 10am as that stopped people putting towels on the sunbeds then going out for the day. There were plenty of sunbeds out and several more stacked at the side if needed. We never struggled to get a sunbed in the sun. The temperatures were up to 27° some days and that was mid October. There are a couple of beaches within walking distance and the main town is a 10 minute walk which you can do along the shore line walkway. We wouldn't hesitate to return and would describe the hotel as being top end of its 3 stars.

Stayed for a week in August, easy check in with multilingual staff. Had to pay 80 euro deposit which we did not know about prior to arrival but this was returned when we departed. Pleased with room and amenities- microwave, fridge, hobs, kettle, cutlery and more. Plenty of towels were provided and room changed twice a week. Had a really nice balcony. Beds were comfortable including the sofa bed, all staff friendly including at the bar and adjacent restaurant. 2 Convenient lifts to use which was great. There are Supermarkets, restaurants and beach all just a short walk away. Air con was included which is not always the case with other hotels. Would stay again, thank you 😊

We stayed a week in a 4th floor two bed apartment which was very clean, well equipped , with pool view large balcony and had its own boiler supplied hot water . The apartments are a bit dated inside and out and the exterior could do with smartening up but the pool and sunbathing area are very well kept and clean . When we stayed there were plenty of available sunbeds . We did see the pool attendant reluctantly removing towels from reserved sunbeds first thing in the morning after waiting for a while . This seems reasonable .. he is only doing what he’s been asked to do by owners . One slightly inconvenient thing is that there are no toilets around the pool area , so you have to go back to the apartment . The apartments are in the “town” area rather than the busy “tourist area” at the other end of the beach . Although there are plenty of local cafes , supermarkets and bars in the area . The apartments are about a fifteen min walk from the beach . Be aware that two sunbeds and a parasol is €25 a day . I had read negative comments about staff in reception , but I found them helpful and friendly . Just because someone doesn’t have a great command of English doesn’t make them “rude and unfriendly “. The staff were helpful in getting a parasol for the hot balcony and were accommodating when we wanted a late check out on our apartment ( albeit with a small charge )

SscottandelaineWe stayed here for 2 nights in October 2019 as our base for exploring Tarragona and environs. This is a spotlessly clean place designed in the style of 1960s furnishings and decor but with all the current day conveniences. It is located about a 5 minutes drive north of the center of Tarragona, 1 block back from a nice sandy beach with a cafe/bar. The hotel's reception staff was super friendly and helpful, and spoke excellent English. The free on-site parking is a big plus for anyone arriving by car, although please do note that the parking is one level down from the lobby and there is no elevator to the parking level, so suitcases must be carried up one flight of steps or else dropped off at the front entrance to the lobby. The reception desk person did carry our suitcases up for us--much appreciated. Our room was on the 3rd floor and was seaview, with a nice balcony. There are railroad tracks that separate the hotel from the beach, but there is an underpass for beach access. Train noise was not bothersome and didn't interfere with sleep. Good breakfast also!

I’m not familiar with Tarragona city for the first time. I booked this hotel on Ctrip. It is about 3~4 kilometers away from the city and 500 meters away from the hotel. There are buses, either No. 6 or No. 54. You can get to the city from 5 to 8 stations, and the distance to the attractions is also very convenient. The hotel’s breakfast is delicious, the rooms are large, and the environment is really good. If you go in summer, the hotel also has a swimming pool. The price is very high. , Shopping is very convenient, the price is affordable, and I will stay here next time. The city of Tarragona is beautiful and it is worth visiting. It is a very historic city!

GGuest UserWe have been visiting Tarragona frequently, sometimes twice a year, since 2005. We have stayed at the Hotel Lauria every time from 2006, because it has always been so comfortable and friendly. The Lauria could not be in a better location, with easy access to the shops, and to many Roman sites such as the amphitheatre and the Forum. The new theatre is directly opposite on the other side of the Rambla Nova. The program of refurbishment has been proceeding for a few years now, and must be close to completion. The upgrades to the rooms and public areas are excellent. We were unable to have our usual room this time, but, thanks to our long-serving friend, José, in Reception, we had a super room with a sea view, overlooking the recently refurbished pool. The buffet breakfast is, as usual, well-stocked and frequently overseen by another long-serving friend, Juan. The new coffee machine is great, once you work out how to get the best out of it. Manager Eloy is friendly & helpful as ever, as are all the other Reception and cleaning staff. This was the first time we had managed to get to Tarragona for the spectacular Easter parade. This is a ”must see” event that we strongly recommend.

GGuest UserWe had the normal suite. The room was very big and spacious but very basic and boring. In the room there is 2 extra beds (bunk bed) in case you are with children. The location was perfect. It was close to the centre and next to the hotel was a bus station. The room had a “food” smell the moment we enter. The smell didn’t went away even when we opened the windows. The shower head was broken, a lot of dust under the bed, the phone didn’t work so we couldn’t call the receptionist. To top it off the air conditioner didn’t work. We called to inform about this issue and they told is they will come to see what is the problem. They never came. We slept really bad. When we did the checkout we told them again. The only thing they say was that they were sorry. For the price for one night i expected much more. We are happy we stayed just for one night. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone.

GGuest UserWe stayed here for 1 night in June of 2022. The people working the front desk were very friendly and nice. Our rooms were okay - nothing great, nothing bad, just a nice place to sleep for a night. The good - there was an elevator. The bad - the A/C was working but not as cool as we are used to. I would have liked it to be a bit cooler. There was parking but it was first come first serve (about 10 spots). We checked in right away at about 4:00 and then kept our car there in the parking lot as we didn't want to lose the spot. We walked around the hotel a bit & it looked like on street parking was very full. So we were very glad to have our car parked and it was an added bonus that the hotel & parking was behind a gate you had to be let in to access. Made us feel very secure. There was a nice small grocery store within a block so we walked down & got some supplies we needed. That night we ate supper at the attached restaurant and were very happy with it. Again, the people working there were super nice and helpful. Their menu was in pictures and in English so that helped. Our son had cuddlefish and loved it. I had beef and although it was different than steak in the States, it was very good. We also had breakfast in the morning at the attached restaurant and it was also very nice. A very typical Spanish hotel breakfast - fruit, lunch meats, cheese and breads. All in all a great 1 night stay while we visited Tarragona.

GGuest UserI stayed here for two weeks for a university program. As I was there for a while it's easiest to do a bulleted list of pros/cons: Pros: * Location: Directly on Plaça de la Font, so if you're someone who wants to be right next to restaurants, bars, clubs and shops this is for you; also close to the Cathedral, the old town and the Roman ruins (amphitheater, circus, forum); a short walk from Platja del Miracle, a clean, lifeguarded beach where I was always able to find good space no matter the day or time. * I had a double room at the back of the property, whose window faced onto another flat but with a small terrace between us. Thus it was quiet and got direct sunlight most of the day. The room had an AC unit that cooled the room quickly, and also had decent shelf and hanger space given the room size (small, but that's typical of European hotel rooms, especially in old buildings). * The room was cleaned every day—towels changed every day, sheets changed every few days. Post-COVID I've come to expect the opposite—that hotel rooms will only be cleaned once a week or upon request—so that was a pleasant surprise. The cleaning staff were also very friendly and helpful. Cons: * Automated check-in—by far the biggest con. The hostel didn't send our trip coordinator, who wasn't in-country, the access code to the front door, though it was supposed to have been sent 24h before. So I arrived, the first in my group to get there, not realizing this would be needed. Eventually after waiting outside for some time another guest happened to be going inside, and let me in. The machine was wonky at first but eventually worked, at least for me; other guests checking in at the same time as the later arrivals in my group, however, had worse luck, and I'm not sure if they were ever able to reach a Forum rep to access their rooms. * No on-site staff, poorly-manned hostel phone line—we had a situation in our group later that week where a group member forgot their key in their room on their way to dinner, and ended up having to sleep in the small lobby area overnight as nobody from the Forum number provided was picking up the phone. The pin number the automated machine was requesting in order to issue a new key had never been sent to our group coordinator either, hence why the group member was never able to get a new key issued from the machine. * Other people in my university group had single rooms in the center of the property. Thus they did not ever have direct sunlight; their rooms either faced a wall or a disused lift shaft at the center of the property. This is just something for people to be aware of when they're making the bookings; the room photos on the site are not representative of most of the rooms of the property. * Accessibility: there is no lift/elevator, and it is a four-story property with steep flights of stairs between floors. If anyone in your party is disabled or otherwise has mobility or fitness issues, or if you simply have a lot of luggage,
