Kelly's Riverside Motel

Very friendly staff. We were running late and rang to let them know we would only be checking in at 11pm. That was no problem for them, they had the room warmed up for us with lights on when we arrives. Clean comfortable bed rooms with kitchenette and shower. Great for short stays. Will stay at Kelly's again for our next visit.

The owner/manager was lovely showing us to our room and how things worked. But the BED was the hardest I’ve ever slept on. There was just two big hard pillows so no others to choose from. Studio Unit was clean, you can see they have done some upgrades with vanity and toilet but we had hoped to use the oven but it didn’t have any racks/trays. Walking distance to plenty of takeaways AND the newish New World so convenient location. Personally wouldn’t stay here again

From the outset I will say that we didn't stay in the end. We arrived, looked at the villa we had booked. It was dark, old and had no heating! Host very welcoming. Asked about heating and he offered a portable heater. TV satellite means Netflix and YouTube. It was all very dingy. He offered another unit, but none suited so he gave us our money back, which was decent of him, and we went on our way home.

Fantastic hosts who make you feel so welcome even when arriving later in the evening (and leaving early) - location is great with walking distance to main shopping area. This is a basic motel and we were in a studio unit (kitchen, ensuite and bedroom with TV)…we visited in summer for essentially rest overnight during long road trip. Bed was comfortable (more comfortable than expected) - toilet and shower adequate but beware of train noise. We didn’t use the heat pump at all and the room temperature was comfortable however, if this was not summer I would be concerned about the block brick construction and single glaze windows ability to conduct heat. Overall a good choice for short stay base - villas certainly more spacious appearance but as mentioned this was studio stay. Studio kitchen was older but adequate for meal preparation if needed. Also great to have car parking near unit. Our short stay was satisfactory - would recommend for short stay but note train tracks nearby with occasional overnight train noise if you are a light sleeper. Useful also to know is the office access involves a steep ramp and use of steps which may not be great for those with mobility issues.

Booked for 1 night, and found it very clean and met all our needs. Definitely not the quietest but was aware of that when we booked it, and had ear plugs. Units were warm and the owner was helpful. Basic motel that ticked the boxes and didn’t break the bank.

Our family stayed in their family house about 6 weeks ago when the weather was fairly mild. The house was freezing with no heating. We turned the oven on at one stage to warm up the dining room - which was fairly unsuccessful. It was clean, horrendously noisy (with the main street being right outside and the railway being behind), absolutely freezing (every blanket off every bed wasn't sufficient and this wasn't even winter), and the service station lights stay on all night so it's very, very light. I think that the units behind the front house might be better but wouldn't stop the train noise. Told a few locals the next day where we had stayed and they said 'you need to take your own heater!' when you stay there. Are you kidding me. The motelier seemed to be friendly enough but disappeared pretty quickly after we had checked in, which was late. No wonder he disappeared.
