IKA Nui Taupo

The lake view from our room was absolutely stunning, making up for any minor issues. The motel is conveniently located right by the Taupo Lake photo spot, with a McDonald's just behind it, and parking was a breeze. The sofa bed in the family room wasn't particularly comfortable. However, the air conditioning worked well, and the bathroom had a heated towel rail and a hairdryer. They also have laundry facilities, which is a huge plus for families on a road trip. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay for our family self-drive trip.

We booked this room last minute. There was plenty of parking, and the location was fantastic, right on the lakefront. We were assigned unit 22 on the second floor, which was the furthest away, but still offered a lake view. It was a one-bedroom suite, and the bed in the living room was hidden in a cabinet – you had to pull it out and make it yourself. There were only two thin blankets provided. The air conditioning in the room was a bit noisy, and it was still a bit cold in winter. The cleanliness was probably above average. We were just a few minutes' walk from several restaurants, and McDonald's (presumably '飞机场麦当劳' refers to a McDonald's near an airport or a very specific one) was also a few minutes away. Overall, it was fine for an overnight stay.

The room has a folk-style decor and is located right by Lake Taupo. My ground-floor room even had a small garden outside with a table and chairs. Inside, it was fully equipped with all sorts of kitchenware, cutlery, a microwave, oven, fridge, induction hob, dishwasher, washing machine, and dryer. It's a shame I only booked for one day this time!

The hotel is located right on the first row in front of Lake Taupo, very close to the McDonald's airplane. It's a courtyard-style, two-story building. We stayed on the second floor, so we had to carry our suitcases up the stairs. The room was very spacious, clean, and tidy. The kitchenette was well-equipped, so we could have cooked our own meals, but we only stayed one night and didn't get around to it. We used the hotel's laundry facilities. You need to buy washing powder from the front desk for one dollar. Drying seemed to be three dollars. However, I felt the dryer wasn't very powerful; we spent six dollars, and our clothes still weren't dry, so we had to take them back to the room and lay them out under the air conditioning. Overall, it was decent, and I would choose to stay here again next time I visit Taupo.
