The Tauranga on the Waterfront

Wonderful place to stay. Rooms are pristine in a great quiet location with an easy walk down to the seafront where there is a wide range of bars and restaurants. Hosts are friendly and helpful and added to our great stay. Will certainly be using this motel when we return.

From our welcome by Nicki to our departure after 2 night’s stay, EVERYTHING about this lovely motel fulfilled our expectations and then EXCEEDED them! Spotlesslyclean, perfectly appointed, and beautifully sited, I could have spent the remainder of my 3-week holiday on the patio of my 1st-floor room!

The hotel was in a good location and the staff were friendly and helpful. The view from the room was great. The room was very good and as it was raining we ate in. We had everything we needed. It was in a quiet area of the city so a restful sleep was had.

I was disappointed in the overall offerings of this town in terms of accommodations. The campsite had the best location and maybe an AirBnB would have been wiser (maybe.. The room was clean, but kind of stuck between a modern renovation and the 1970’s. The walls were thin as I could hear next door’s jacuzzi tub running. Some of the parking spots were very tight with little space on either side. Of all the places I stayed at while we jumped about this was the poorest. It could also be due to the nature of the place and being a larger town.

The primary issue I have relates to the service my wife and I received from the management of The Tauranga On the Waterfront. On the morning of my visit, I contracted flu and wasn't really up to a road trip from Auckland. My wife attempted to contact the motel's management to postpone our trip by a week, even if it meant that we would need to pay full fare for the no-show but possibly get a discount for the following weekend. The response I received was - management are unavailable on the weekend. The receptionist inform us that she'd cancel the booking and deduct the full amount from our credit card. She informed my wife that we could phone management on the following Monday to attempt to negotiate from the weekend thereafter. Your absolute lack of service and your unavailability speaks volumes about your attitude towards your customers, especially since all we wanted to do was make an informed decision about remediation alternatives. I think your conduct is unacceptable and will never consider your establishment again.

If you’re looking for a relatively cost effective & easy place to stay - this is your place. Absolutely lovely view! Room & bathroom very clean & tidy. One gripe is that the bathroom door is not actually a door, but rather a screen that doesn’t actually close shut. Very noisy. Luckily we are heavy sleepers so it didn’t bother us too much, but could hear upstairs guests walking around and talking most of the night. Would stay again for the view & cleanliness!

A very pleasing stay. First off the customer service on arrival was so friendly warm and welcoming. Received an upgrade to the executive king suite with waterfront view and absolutely loved the room. Was so spacious and had everything you need for a stay away from home. The place was exceptionally clean also and a first for me was finding the wonderful little make remover wipes in the bathroom. Will definitely be the e place I stay when in TGA and can highly recommend it. Thank you

Great place, rooms well laid out, heaps of space in the room and exceptionally clean. I had all the necessities needed. Easy stroll to town for dinner and lovely being by the waterfront. Great service on booking in and checking out.
