We arrived to a very warm welcome from the Leah, the receptionist (sorry if I've got your name wrong). We were allocated the accessible room on the ground floor (for no reason other than it was available!), which was a huge room with a king-size bed as well as a single bed. The bathroom was a spacious wet room, so no shower tray to step over, and various handrails and shower chairs for use if needed. The only quibble was that the sink was very small. The hotel itself is very smart, beautifully decorated and very warm and welcoming, with various areas of sofas and armchairs to sit and chat. The hotel's restaurant was staffed by various people at different times of the day, all of whom were really lovely and friendly. The varied menu was the same for both lunch and dinner times, and the food was excellent. The chips especially were delicious, though they did come with most of the meals and I would have liked a choice of accompaniment (new or mashed potatoes or rice, for example), so that I didn't keep eating too many of these delicious chips. Our server on two evenings was Meghan, who as well as being efficient and cheery, dashed around the room entertaining everyone with her huge personality. All the staff were assets to the hotel's atmosphere. There is a large car park behind the hotel, and in April there were plenty of spaces. We wanted to take our bikes away with us and there was a small cycle rack in front of the hotel, but nowhere enclosed or away from prying eyes to lock any bikes away safely. A small lockable shed, say in the car park with the key available from reception, would be more useful. I have read some past reviews of this hotel which have not been very good. We found our stay excellent, and all I can say is, if you have any problems then ask for them to be sorted out while you are there. The window in our room was awkward to close, but on reporting it to reception, someone came and fixed it within minutes. Another review said that restaurant staff were scruffy or unkempt. I have been in hotels where staff wore a uniform of black trousers and white shirts, but they still managed to look scruffy and dirty, with food stains. The staff at the Kingscliff all looked perfectly clean and tidy in their own clothes, and the quality of the service was more important to me than what they were wearing. We would definitely stay here again.
