Saratoku Ryokan

I liked the location, the nature, the mountain river, and the trout there. My husband wanted to try living in the village, to get a feel for how they used to live. For me, it was a nightmare. It wasn't my thing at all. The house was cold, there was a strange smell, and there was no separate bathroom, just a shared washroom. Ugh. There are no bed sheets provided; you have to sleep on blankets and a mattress. You have to be prepared for that! This is my personal opinion, my feeling! My husband liked it, but I didn't. I stayed for two nights, and I simply couldn't sleep. The hosts are lovely people, kind, and always smiling.

I stayed for two nights. Since we were staying consecutive nights, they were very careful to ensure that the food was not the same for everyone, and they treated us with great care. The atmosphere of the ascetic inn and the streetscape of Dorogawa Onsen were both very beautiful. I was also surprised at how cool it was. I would like to come back next time in a different season.
