Bluestone Motor Inn

We have stayed here before and nothing has changed. It probably is the best place in town so this says a lot about the other places. Our room was big and the bed a king bed was quite comfy. Cleanliness of the room was average with the toilet having a nice dirt water ring around the water line. Yuk! The shower was hot but there was no mat to stand on so the risk of falling was accentuated. This motel caters for tour groups and workers. The tour groups get precedence of feeding as others like us have to wait until they have been fed. The workers are wonderful when they start their trucks as 4am and let them idle and sometimes get revved before they go to work. The gate is closed as 8pm and not opened again until 7am unless you like the workers have a key. As for the food. I had a steak, was ok a bit over cooked but still palatable. My wife decided on a Greek salad. Well there is no was this was a Greek salad. It was full of leaves, a few olives, some tomato and a smattering of feta. A real let down but gee it was an expensive let down. We decided on breakfast - another mistake. Poached eggs on toast - we were the only ones waiting in the dining room and it took 30 minutes to get them. And yep we paid heavily again for this folly $34.00 plus credit card fees for 2 servings of 2 eggs and 2 toast on each. As for the wifi forget it. It’s not worth trying to log on. You are off line more than you are on line and that wasn’t the busy time. There was no microwave or toaster in the room. Here’s a tip that I sorted first and that is do not pay your meal and drink bill until you are finished or you will be paying transaction fee charges every time you buy a drink. This place knows they have the monopoly and use it.

We booked this property specifically for the pool. The pool was unable to be used, the aircon did not work or the wifi. We often travel through Tennant Creek but decided to stay, unfortunately, it will be our last. The staff were very good and seemed embarrassed from all the things that were not working properly

Maintance average

There isn't much choice in Tennant Creek. For $218 per night, you get a "budget" room which is a small, clean space with a small window where you need to keep the curtains closed for privacy and there is no security, so locals come in and look for cigarette buts. No free wifi, no real amenities, just a place to sleep. The place backs onto the road on all sides, so you might get some night time screaming. The restaurant is closed on weekends and the reception closes from 10am-2pm and virtual zero infirmation is provided unless you asked for it, not even when the restaurant is open. Decent expensive meals. Friendly staff.

The price I paid was way to much for the unit. Not happy at all. I have never left a review before but this one needs one.The door would not shut tight left a big gap. Bugs came in. Red ants in bathroom. Ended up with wide scotch tape for the gap on the door. Offered to move but no guarantees it would not be the same in another unit.. I would not recommend staying here.

The couch was very low to floor hard get out of it and television was hard to see from the bed

Terrible service by ground staff, room had a damp smell in it. Cancelled order due to waiter conduct… Last option when next in Tennant Creek
