What a great little place, beautifully decorated and presented. The room was lovely, not problem with road noise (as per other posts, and we were facing the main road). The staff were great, very friendly and helpful, the comfort around the fire is just what we needed. The only drawback was being charged for breakfast which I wasn’t expecting especially after paying £195 for one night (the only got in the ointment)… We will be returning….

Given it wasn't a cheap room there are 3 main reasons I found it a little disappointing. Free parking was advertised but there's only room for 3 cars outside the pub. We were lucky enough to squeeze on to the third as we were early. Also it was advertised as a full breakfast but this in fact was continental with an extra £14 for a Full English. Finally for the price the room was very small, although it was very clen and pleasant inside so in no way in poor condition. Unfortunately as an additional point which can't be helped, the pub is right on some traffic lights and of course not their fault but unfortunately regularly cars were roaring away from the lights. If I'd paid half or a little over half of what I paid then fair enough but for the price, as I say, a little disappointing.

Fabulous hotel. A very warm welcome from the owner and staff who looked after us so well. The hotel is tastefully furnished throughout. The bedroom was cosy with everything you could ask for, comfortable bed, lovely bathroom, robes and toiletries. Food was very nice we had lunch before going to the Chapel Down Vineyard for wine tasting and then had dinner and breakfast the following day. We enjoyed all our food. We would definitely recommend without hesitation. A great find. Thank you to everyone.

Luxury Country Pub Stay Excellent hotel and restaurant with amazing staff that are really friendly and welcoming. The room we had was the Author room which was the most comfortable bed I have ever been in. Beautiful roll top Copper bath for that relaxing soak to help you relax. Food at dinner as well as breakfast was delicious. If I had to criticise it would only be the lack of parking on site and that the hotel is on a busy road, although once inside didn't notice the road outside.

This is such a fabulous place to eat and stay. The hosts are amazing and such great company. It manages to give a relaxed yet polished atmosphere and it’s very tastefully decorated throughout. My room was beautiful as was my evening meal and breakfast. Any excuse to return.

This was the prefect location and hotel ! We had one of the wonderful rooms complete with free standing copper bath. Even a real fire which they kindly lit for us. Think it was called the Authors Room. Delicious wine with wonderful three course dinner and outstanding service. We combined this stay with a tour of Chapel Down winery - what a fabulous weekend !

For a newly finished property, too many things could have been done better. Charging phones at bedside difficult, sockets already in use. Why didn't they use sockets with USB sockets. only hanging space for clothes was in the shower/toilet. Not really very nice hanging your clothes in the same space where you go to the toilet. Also in shower room there was a rack with the towels on. I'm 6'4" tall and I had to use my walking stick to pull the towels down! Weird room locks were not automatically locking, you had to remember to turn the deadlock when you were in the room and lock it with the key when you left.
Main complaint though was that I chose this establishment as it said it had car parking. It didn't! It had a small ***** of gravel in front of the building were you could park 3 vehicles. Very insecure so by no description a car park! Just acceptable for one night but would not want to stay longer

Recently renovated , comfortable bed , thoughtful touches in the rooms . Some parking at the property but lots nearby if not . Hosts charming and attentive.
