Candlewood Suites Terre Haute

Very nice! Staff was friendly and helpful telling us about events nearby. Clean room with everything you need. Right in the middle of all the action.

Great place to stay especially if visiting ISU.

Five C’s of Candlewood Terra Haute Clean - The room was well maintained and clean as a whistle. Comfortable - Beds were comfortable and so were the pillows. Convenient - A block away from the Hulman Center. Several good food choices within a couple blocks. Kitchenette available. Free parking. Courteous - Staff was friendly and very helpful. Check in was a breeze and we were greeted when we returned after our evening out. Cost-effective - For what we needed, this room fit the bill to a T. A little more expensive than other choices, but given the other 4 C’s, I think we got great value for our money.

It is a beautiful hotel. Close to ISU and in walking distance of restaurants and stores.

The entire staff was very friendly and helpful. I was greeted every time I went through the lobby and they always checked in to see if I needed anything. The kitchen in the room was ready to go and the lending library downstairs has additional appliances! The lending library also offered movies and games. Parking was easy because the staff ensured the parking lot was kept for guests only.

Typical Candlewood rooms, very well equipped kitchen, comfortable bed. This is a 6-story building of historical value right in downtown Terre Haute, built in 1912, once headquarters of Terre Haute's newspaper (we were told). Very well preserved, modern renovation into hotel. Walking distance to several museums and across the street from the convention center. Free surface parking in lot right behind the hotel. Solidly built, it was totally quiet despite being sold out. Rooms not large, but high ceiling makes it feel more spacious. High windows, but just have views of other downtown buildings, nothing much to look out at. Just two negatives, but worth nothing: in a major design error, the bed was pushed up against one wall along one side, meaning if you have two people in the bed, either one has to always get in/out first, or crawl in from the foot of the bed. This would be a significant issue for anyone with mobility issues (e.g., elderly, and/or with a movement disability). Totally not necessary, since there was ample space to position the bed differently. Second, because the windows are so high top to bottom (plenty of light comes in), the long bars usually used to slide over the curtains are very difficult / impossible to operate. They needed a different design. Otherwise, very comfortable, friendly and helpful staff.
