Teschemakers Resort

it is a wonderful place to stay, we loved walking around the property exploring the old school, listening to birds singing, and of course loved our clean room and comfy bed! Shane was super helpful and contacted us about some books the kids left behind and sent them back to us. It is not only a resort but also a museum, we loved every bit of it!

Very interesting place away from the busyness of life. 5 ladies and they had some lovely rooms with balconies. Good size rooms. My King deluxe Studio had windows which faced into public deck/outdoor area which I didn’t care to open (no view or fresh air). The history of the place was interesting and the chapel was lovely for weddings. Resturant is not functioning at present, buy food before you arrive.

A hidden gem to stay in Oamaru. Set on an old nunnery and boarding school, this accommodation is a great place to explore and see the old history. The room we stayed in was extremely spacious. The only downside was limited cooking facilities - we had a microwave and bench top oven/grill, and a plug in cooktop, but no frying pans to use on the cooktop, so prepare to bring a microwave meal or drive into Oamaru for dinner, as unfortunately the restaurant was closed during our stay. Otherwise it was a pleasant stay.

Firstly the buildings and surrounds were beautiful, the room we stayed in was big, warm and modern. However, the restaurant has been closed for a long time apparently, so I phoned ahead to ask what cooking facilities would be there. I was told just a microwave so I should bring my own “finger food”. When we arrived I saw there was actually a hot plate, microwave and and a bench top /cooker oven in our room/ but no pots/pans to enable cooking. Our email confirmation from the hotel said that because the restaurant was closed, a continental breakfast would be available- when I asked about this I was told no it wasn’t. The friendly Asian lady that checked us in and provided this information - also checked in an Asian family directly opposite our room. It was surprising to see they had been delivered a meal - as a plate with a lid on was outside their room in the evening. I wouldn’t stay again, I would choose somewhere closer to the town, with food options for my family.

Large clean and tidy room with good facilities - perfect for a family. A place of character with a history - the manager was happy to show us inside the chapel which was amazing. Approximately 10 minutes drive from Oamaru, but great spot if wanting to explore Oamaru and Moeraki Boulders.

Love staying at Teschmakers, visit number 3 & we will be back. Beautiful buildings, beautiful church, lovely quiet peaceful grounds, great location outside of Oamaru. Great customer service. hassle free booking. Great for families & groups.

Tesechemakers found us by a mistake in our booking. A very happy accident! Stayed in an opulent room with Californian king bed. Shane showed us around this amazing property with its history as a girls boarding school run by Dominican nuns. The building and chapel are extraordinary. All facilities are very spacious, modern and immaculate. Go before everyone else finds out about it. Thank you Shane and Shane!

A great stay in the countryside. Nicely done and very tranquil. The rooms are a great size and clean and pleasant. Nice grounds.easy to find and about ten minutes from Oamaru and five minutes from Kakanui beach.
