Stayed three nights for my sons 13th birthday while visiting Cambridge and Duxford airshow. The hotel is clean and to a decent standard, the staff are friendly and helpful esp the lady serving the bar meals in the evenings. The hotel was very very quiet for a bank holiday weekend, to the point where they didn't even open the restaurant as there were not enough guests, we ate in the bar and this was also very quiet, I'm not sure why given the bank holiday timing. The meals were very nice but extreamly pricey, one evening I simply had a sandwich (£15!!!). The children's menu needs changing though, it is quite limited and the items on there are not child friendly, quite upmarket tastes, when all they really want are pizza, sausages, nuggets etc, I don't think the present menu was designed by someone who has children. On the day of my sons birthday we arranged for a small birthday cake platter to be left in the room, this was a nice touch. I was a bit suprised the rooms do not get serviced at all as a norm however, I was expecting a bit more on this side of things. The pool and hot tub are great, although cordening off the pool for swimmers/families makes the family side a bit congested in the evenings, I would suggest not doing this when evening guests are back from their days out and wanting to use the pool?. Breakfast is quiet, like evening meal times, but the choice is fantastic, absolutely lovely food and cannot be faulted. So some good points and negative which could easily be improved but staff clearly work hard to keep guests happy.
