We held our Wedding here at The Priory in June 2024. It was absolutely perfect in every way. The venue was amazing. The staff were first class in everything they did. Polite, efficient, they never stopped all day and when anything happened they were so professional and took it all in their stride. Special mention must go to Frank the manager and our MC for the day. He runs everything and calmly made sure we were where we needed to be when we needed to be there. Special mentions also to John, Hannah, Joanne (hope your arm is ok now) and all the waiting and bar staff who all seemed to approve of our music playlist too! The food and drinks were stunning; hats off to the chefs. From the drinks reception with canapés, to the wedding breakfast and wines with bubbles for the toasts, to the evening buffet - everything was perfect and all diets catered for and our very young guests as well. We are soooo grateful to you all for your huge support and help in making our celebrations wonderful. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you. Love J & A

It was so bad, I left early and paid to stay somewhere else Think of Faulty Towers with Sybil at the front desk, don’t dare complain and like a previous review , definitely do not use the kettle in your room although in my room most of the plugs sockets did not actually work. The WiFi was very good though lol

Without doubt the worse hotel I have ever had the displeasure to stay in. From the outset the experiance was terrible, the reception has been replaced with an online check in system that quite frankly doesnt work and worse still no one can check in until 3pm as system doesnt allow it. All this does is result in every guest all trying to book in at the same time. The Bar was not stocked and had limited options at best and even then only one of the chosen item, restaurant dated and breakfast was awful. The poor staff obviously been driven into submission by working at such a dire hotel, you can see it in their eyes they havent even got the energy to apologise anymore.Really is that bad the only positives are location and the grounds.

We had an unfortunate start to our 2 night break, as the room key card was not functioning. In the end we were moved to another room. When a member of staff was required to help, they were not to be found as employed on other duties elsewhere. Certainly over stretched, but doing their best under the circumstances. The hotel itself is well placed for Bury St Edmunds. My husband missed his preferred coffee, so walked across to a convenient garage to buy a cappuccino. Breakfast was good and other food quite alright. The Priory needs some money putting into it as some things looking a bit well worn, such as windows. The room was a decent size & bathroom pleasant with a good shower.

Sadly the hotel was very warm with no way to adjust the room heating. Windows could not be opened and even with this I could clearly hear the cars from the road outside. Also had a few things falling apart in my room and to top it off a lovely fire alarm went off at 06:50 to wake everyone up. Just to finish my stay, the check out computer did not work and advised to speak a staff member which took me ages to find anyone. Sadly think I will be looking elsewhere to stay on my next visit.

Today we came for a carvery with the family for Fathers day. We have been several times and never been disappointed. Food was absolutely delicious, Great selection of meat, the best roast potatoes and a wide range of veg. All the food was piping hot and fresh. Service was absolutely fantastic from Danny, Fin, Callum and John. Will definitely be coming back again soon.

on appearance, it seems like a lovely little hotel.. the lady was rude and unhelpful when attempting to use self checkout, eventually figured it out. then got into our room… it looks like it has been that was since 1970. dated furniture, terrible bathroom, bugs in the building. splatters and stains on walls, furniture and ceiling. hard bed, and it smelt stale.

Hotel room and location were good and it was a 20-30 min walk to Bury St Edmunds. We particularly enjoyed the shower and breakfast was also good, small selection and items quickly ran out but this meant that they were replenished frequently so food was fairly fresh when we were there. When we arrived, parking was very tight and we just got the last space. It would help if there were marked bays as guests were leaving big gaps between cars. The biggest let down was check in, screens didn't work and it took ages to locate the receptionist who was having a drink in the bar! She wasn't particularly friendly or helpful and made a poor first impressionist of the hotel. There was also jar of sweets in the room, I would have said that this was a nice touch as we were travelling as family however the. jars was full of ants!
