Just spent 2 nights in very tranquil surroundings at nithbank, melanie and john could not do enough for you also the warm scones on arrival were delicious the rhubarb jam was superb, the room was very spacious and the bed very comfortable, they also have great knowledge on the surrounding areas and give you best advice on trips, breakfast choices were fantastic and the scenery for breakfast is glorious, great place for a calm relaxing stay would highly reccomended.

Stayed here on 22nd and 23rd September following a fantastic but very frantic week with the family in the Lake District. We couldn’t have chosen a better place to wind down. The house is beautiful and despite the rooms being huge, many with high ceilings, feels cozy, comfortable and welcoming. The welcome scones with clotted cream and jam were light as air and delicious. Our room, the Morton Suite was stunning! The bed was just so comfortable, as was the huge, squashy sofa. The wardrobe in our room was so big I half expected to enter Narnia through it! More than enough room for all our clothes and shoes. The bathroom is probably the best we have ever had in a hotel or B&B. Both the shower and the enormous, deep bath were a real indulgence and well equipped with luxury toiletries. The award winning breakfasts both mornings were delicious. I can’t recommend anything in particular as everyone we had was worth trying. Mel and John were amazing hosts and nothing was too much trouble. We had a wonderful time and would go back tomorrow. Can’t recommend highly enough!

First time stay with wonderful hosts Mel and John. The rooms are simply beautiful, very tastefully decorated, with local antiques in a contemporary setting. There is a really luxurious and homely feel to all the guest spaces. The house is set in a stunning location with gardens which reach down to the river Nith. It’s so peaceful there and there is an abundance of wildlife for company. Everywhere you look there are lovely touches for guests from the well provisioned rooms to the books, flowers and area guides. We had the most beautiful breakfast with all local produce. Mel and John care deeply about positive community impact and it shows in their sustainability practices and genuine love for the area. If you want warm and friendly hosts, beautiful rooms in a stunning location - stay here.

A perfect overnight stay on our way North. After the very busy M6 it was a peaceful and calm, luxurious haven. A lovely stroll in the grounds after our welcome scones ( coming from Devon it was good to have proper clotted cream!) and an evening meal in a local pub suggested in all the welcome information. The Morton suite was wonderful, we loved it. Very comfy huge bed and excellent en suite. Such welcoming hosts and so many lovely touches. Don’t think twice if you want somewhere to stay in this area. We really appreciated somewhere so special taking a one night booking. Thank you both, Alison and Dave

We loved our experience here. Beautiful estate, rooms with gorgeous views, and lovely grounds to roam in nature. Mel bakes us amazing homemade scones and jam for tea in the afternoon. We arranged a birthday evening with appetizers/drinks in the annex barn with a cozy fire and then had a lovely dinner and whiskey tasting in the dining room. Got to feed their sweet cows too! Arranged a falconer to come and teach us all about birds of prey. Mel gave great suggestions of things to see and do in the area. It was nice to experience Scotland away from lots of tourists. Highly recommend visiting the Nithbank Estate!

We stayed here for 3 nights but could have easily stayed 2 more nights in this beautifully renovated antique estate to explore the area with its rich landscapes that changes within a short drive. Mel and john are very hospitable and you'll find lots of information about walks, nice villages, churches, good restaurants, shops etc. in the area. We often found ourselves the only hikers in the vast open hilly landscape- a big plus to travel in the underrated South Scotland. The spacious high-ceiling room with a huge window looking into the nature is simply a dream. The estate has just opened recently and we're sure it'll soon be filled up with guests who appreciate luxury in a rural setting.

I think this is quite simply the best B&B I have ever stayed in. Mel and John have a real knack of knowing what you would like before you do, simply gorgeous house, beautiful garden and wonderful breakfast. Would highly recommend.

Perfect from beginning to end, can’t recommend highly enough, I am usually pretty picky but I would give 10/10. Beautiful rooms, perfect location, lovely hosts. Clearly a lot of love and effort has gone into creating a beautiful hotel. Hope to be back one day!

We were lucky to have an overnight stay very recently at Nithbank Country Estate, if I could give it more than 5/5 I would. Melanie and John are excellent hosts, very welcoming and nothing is too much trouble, they really do look after their guests. Our room was terrific, we stayed in the Morton suite which was very spacious and comfortable, probably the comfiest bed I have slept in. The room felt lovely and traditional while still having all the modern touches. The en-suite bathroom was superb, welcoming bacth which I could have stayed in all night, great powerful shower. The scones we had on arrival were delicious, this is such a lovely kind touch, very much enjoyed sitting by the river to enjoy them with homemade jam and cream. Breakfast was excellent, everything so fresh and perfectly cooked, excellent choice and great to see so many local ingredients on offer. Homemade granola was better than anything you could buy in a shop! Lovely space to have breakfast, great view and a very warm welcome when going down for breakfast. Nithbank Country Estate is a lovely place to spend time, one of the first things you will notice is how very peaceful it is, we had such a relaxing stay and felt very refreshed. I would happily recommend Nithbank Country Estate to anyone and will definitely look to return.
