The room was simple, old, hot and stuffy. I couldn't sleep without the fan. The carpet felt dirty. Maybe it wasn't dirty, but it felt like that to me. There was only one employee at the front desk to handle check-in, check-out and other matters, just like a guesthouse. The room I was given was in a corner at first. After going up and down the elevator, I had to carry the suitcase and climb 2 flights of stairs. What's worse is that there was a wall outside the window. I couldn't see anything inside or outside the room. It was dark and damp. My vacation turned into a prison cell. I didn't book the lowest price, so I couldn't live in this room. I told Ctrip, and Ctrip said I needed to contact the agent. I didn't get any results for a long time, so I went to the front desk to ask for a room change. The new room I was given was a room with a window facing the hotel entrance. The curtains had to be closed during the day, and there was no shower room. It was still inconsistent with the order. In order to keep a holiday mood, I didn't ask for anything else and barely made do for 2 nights, and then checked out decisively. There were not many guests staying in the hotel, and half of the small breakfast room was empty. Even so, why couldn't they arrange a more satisfactory room for the guests? No wonder there were not many guests staying in the hotel.

This is such a lovely resort. The estate is simply magnificent and the service was excellent throughout our stay.
The room (especially the toilet) was a little bit dated but there was absolutely nothing wrong with it.
We got to dine at the main restaurant and the food quality was excellent. Breakfast and lunch were equally impressive with plenty of options for the kids.
As for amenities, we got to use the indoor pool and spa and they were both nice and clean.
The building was surrounded by impressive gardens and golf course so you will always get a good view just looking out of the windows.
The hotel is surrounded by historic market towns which are always worth visiting.
I would definitely come back again as I enjoyed the place so much.

Not so good. There are blood stains on the sheets. The toilet can't be flushed. The facilities are still very old. The attitude of the hotel staff is not satisfactory. The only good point is that the surrounding environment is okay

Lovely hotel set in amazing grounds. Pool area is lovely and water is very warm.
Thoughtful touches for children.
Rooms could be modernised a bit, and the size of the hotel means there can be quite a bit of walking.

This hotel is tired. It needs a refurb, it needs staff to have a refresher course on customer service and the staff need to feel valued by Marriot in order for them to make guests feel valued. The rooms while “OK” are tired and the shower / bath still have shower curtains! The corridors are soooo noisy that whenever anyone walks past outside you will be woken up. The beds are “OK” but the pillows may as well be non existent. Also, this is the first hotel I have stayed at where I was not welcomed as a member and welcomed back, nor was I given any recognition to being a member. Come on Marriott, you can do better.

We had a really nice stay, the staff were very friendly, breakfast was excellent as was the spa and spa trea**ents. Dinner however was on the expensive side
