Overall it was very reasonable and very good. However, parking is on the street, so it was a little difficult for first-timers. How to find a place and how to park. So I asked people walking by and they said it was perfect. You can park your car from 5 p.m. until morning, but it seems impossible to park near double yellow lines or in front of people's houses. There was a bar right next door (some?), and there were various food shops nearby. Chinese, Indian, fish and chips. I think there was also a steak restaurant that sold venison. The backyard that I could see from my room was also very peaceful and nice. If I had time, I would like to take it easy. The ferry port for the Auckland Islands was about a 15 minute drive away. A company called North Link? There were three flights a day.

Very tired run down don’t expect too much in need of renovations. Floors were uneven all over the establishment. Staffwere friendly and great, breakfasts was good, plenty of variety and fresh, ample parking nearby other amenities were close by.

The charm here is the beautiful garden, and close to the beach front. Nice town. The rooms were cozy and adequate, the food was average, the staff was friendly. We wished we had more time here to explore the area and walk around the town. We saw a seal at the beach.

Sheets looked dirty pillows all different shades of white.
Shower had serious problems went scalding hot then ice cold over and over.

The rickety chairs in diningroom have still not been replaced or repaired.
Our room was very small, but still functional and as we were on a mega cheap rate that was quite acceptable.

Clean and comfortable. Friendly staff. Delicious food. Unfortunately the shower in our room (room 3) would not get warm no matter what we tried or how long we waited, so we had to resort to a stand up wash.
We would stay again though, hopefully with a hot shower next time!

Staff are really very nice but this hotel is just not good enough. Food in the bar is very low quality as is the service, the room was so dated and tired everything reeked of cheap, I had 4 pillows and not 2 of them were the same colour, shocking bathroom and worse shower ever. Breakfast is normally the highlight for me, not here all the food is from the cheapest supplier and kept warm for hours, I was told they would bring me a fried egg to go with my selection, still waiting.

Quirky, older hotel with lots of seemingly random carpeted stairs with no handrails on each floor, a fall risk. Room was fine but very hot . The prefab shower was almost unusable. There were only 2 possible temperatures: freezing cold or boiling hot. Dinner and breakfast were good
