Well the view and atmosphere is welcoming as was the buffet breakfast. Unfortunately, upon entering the Hotel they didn't have our reservation even though we had a confirmation. Hence, our room wasn't ready and they gave us a minor discount for all the confusion and stress it entailed. The "bungalow" room was nice but the tub and it's water pressure needs to be updated, as does the poor internet speed and t.v. A power wash on the outside wouldn't hurt either. The onsite restaurant menu and food was average as our crabmeat soup and sandwich were warm at best. We made the most of our time here and appreciate the amenities that were offered but we only spent one night, thus we weren't able to enjoy everything that the Hotel had to offer.

First: beautiful place on the Chesapeake Bay. Food better than I expected. What was the most important however was the staff. Lauren, Izzy and Keith were so amazingly accommodating. Lauren went above and beyond with our room situation. Izzy made sure we had fun things to do. Keith kept us well fed and served some great drinks. Could not have had a better weekend. Thank you so much!

Very cozy get away spot. Beautiful views and great food. This was our second time staying and both visitswere fantastic. Very close to St. Michaels for shopping and restaurants. Can't wait to visit in the summer and try Tickler's Crab Shack.

I was looking for an overnight weekend spot to relax and get away from the city, and I wasn’t disappointed! Everything about the Wylder was perfect, from the very welcoming check in to the super comfortable room. I especially loved my views and the fact that I could sit on the patio sipping the Prosecco waiting for me in my room. I also had dinner at the bar where I chatted with the bartender and couple guests, and learned all about the island. When the weather is clear I recommend watching the gorgeous sunrise over the water. Will definitely be back!

We had the best time at the Wylder...yet again. This was our third annual girls weekend here and though you can't predict the weather in January, one thing you know for certain is that the food and services is going to be amazing! Each year we are blown away. We participated in a cocktail class and oyster shucking demo this time, which were both so fun. Last year we painted oyster shells and made smores by the fire, equally fun. You can find Keith at the bar crafting delicious cocktails and providing historical knowledge about different cocktails. I also appreciate that the chef changes up the menu annually, serving up some of the most delious and creative food on the Eastern Shore. In the winter, a trip to the sauna is a must. Wylder gets five gold stars in my book!

My fiancé and I recently had the unfortunate experience of booking our wedding at Wylder, and I feel compelled to share our deeply disappointing encounter. Initially drawn to the venue's charm, location, and potential, our excitement quickly turned to dismay as we discovered the severe neglect and substandard conditions during our subsequent visits. Despite a seemingly receptive management team, our concerns about the rundown state of the facilities, poor service, and lackluster food quality were met with excuses rather than solutions. The property, which we envisioned as the backdrop for our dream wedding, displayed visible signs of wear and tear, including rotting wood on railings, chipped exterior paint, and a pervasive mildew/musty smell in overnight rooms. These issues, coupled with the noticeable inconsistencies in interior paint and bathrooms with broken hand dryers and unlatching stalls, highlighted a blatant lack of maintenance and care. (It should be noted that we visited multiple times over a 6-month period, and none of these issues were addressed in that time frame). For a venue with room rates comparable to a five-star hotel, we expected the property conditions to reflect a better standard. The management's attempt to justify the condition by attributing it to a previous event fell short of providing reassurance. If a venue cannot recover promptly and present its best foot forward for regular lunch service after a wedding, it raises serious doubts about its ability to host events seamlessly. Our concerns regarding the food quality were similarly dismissed with assurances of customization, but the initial disappointment left us questioning the integrity of their commitment to excellence. In light of these issues, coupled with the deplorable reviews we've seen from other guests, we decided that we simply could not subject our family and friends to these conditions, at these prices, in the name of celebrating our wedding. Nearly a year away from our wedding (341 days), we requested a full refund of our deposit, a reasonable request given the circumstances. Unfortunately, the management's response only deepened our disappointment, leaving us questioning the venue's dedication to customer satisfaction. They greedily kept our money saying they doubted that they could rebook that weekend a year in advance, and refused to offer a refund even if they did rebook. Our experience with Wylder has been nothing short of disheartening, and we feel compelled to share this cautionary tale with future couples considering this venue for their special day. As we continue our search for a venue that prioritizes excellence and customer satisfaction, we hope our experience serves as a warning to others navigating the wedding planning process and to stay away from Wylder as your wedding venue.

I had a best anniversary gateaway ever! Thanks to Lauren who advised me on the offers they had and how I would make good use of activities on the weekend. I called last minute to plan my anniversary and didn’t know if the hotel would be ideal. Not to forget I went in December which is cold like hell, but it was amazing. We had a busy schedule, see attached pictures. She was off when I went there, but worked with her colleague Jessica to make sure they put some petal roses in my room as well as a sparking cider (since I said don’t drink). I got an upgrade to a view room which was breathtaking, I spent most of my morning enjoying the sunrise which seating on my bed or at the balcony. Thanks you so much Lauren and Jessica for making my stay pleasurable.

Such a beautiful and cozy get-away!!! Extremely comfy beds and wonderful showers. The staff is incredibly friendly and accommodating. Cherry on top, is how friendly they were for our dogs that we brought on the trip. We will be going back!

We had our wedding here in Fall 2023 and it was not a good experience. I really loved the concept of the buyout of the hotel, but the experience that we ended up having was that Wylder had lots of rules - despite the property being “ours for the weekend” as they originally sold it to us - from not being able to turn up the music at our indoor after-party, to guests having to dump out the champagne they got at check-in as they walked to the outdoor crab shack because they were “separate businesses”. I also found that Wylder was not well organized nor particularly open to providing a customized experience for their weddings. They changed pricing and rules multiple times for basic things like wine service (increased wine service a few months before our wedding to $20 per person, on top of the unlimited open bar package we paid for, just to have servers pour wine for guests during dinner), where the tent could go, and seating capacity for the ballroom rain backup plan - all things that you would assume that a wedding venue would have very much pre-determined. We had SO many mess ups by reception staff as our guests tried to book rooms and the rooms felt very overpriced for the accommodation they provided, which lacked basic staffing and maintenance (see photos outside of our ~$700 per night “bridal suite”). Ultimately, my biggest complaint was that the attitude from the staff was that having a wedding weekend there was an annoyance and burden, even though we paid Wylder alone over $100K for the venue fee, rooms, food & beverage (not including any of the tent rentals, band, florals, linens, etc.). We had rain during our wedding weekend and yet the only complaint that I received from any guests was that the bartenders and some of the staff were rude to them, and I felt this negativity as the bride as well. The General Manager gave us huge attitude throughout the planning process, was specifically rude to me and my husband during our wedding weekend, and she clearly lacked very basic attention to detail when responding to our questions or requests. Our experience at Wylder was that requesting anything outside of Wylder’s canned wedding brochure, was met with resistance and an overpriced estimate on what it would take to deliver it, and I feel we could have put our money to much better use elsewhere. For anyone considering wylder as their event venue, I’m happy to answer additional questions and share my experience, feel free to reach out!
