Lovely setting, beautiful old Victorian Hydro hotel, service excellent and food very good, rooms need an upgrade and update, a bit tired, no fridge in our room, had expected a bit better from a Hydro and a Hilton Hotel

Very sad shadow of the place it used to be. My inlaws have been going there on and off dor the past 10 years. We were there briefly last year and it has deteriorated substantially. A few examples - there was paper all over the ladies toilet floor. I reported at reception and was told “oh I know Its been reported - Ill report it again”. I went back to the bathroom several hours later and there was paper on the floor stiill / or again . Either way it shouldnt have been there. We ate in the restaurant with family who were staying. The food was mediocre at best. £25 for a plate of tasteless rice labelled risotto. My mother in law’s bread roll was so hard she couldnt cut it. I just about managed to do it for her, but when she tried to eat it it was just too hard to bite. She left it and we mentioned it to thw waitress who said “ill report it” no appology. They had arranged to put any food during their stay on the room tab but after the meal were told they had to pay for the meal before leaving the table. My in laws are traditional very polite people and dont vomplain or make a fuss. Left hand just didnt seem to know what the right hand was doing. Certainly not somewhere I would want to return to.

We arrived early to be told multiple times the check I was at 4pm. We had phoned at 9am to request early check in as we were going to a wedding at 1pm. We waited and eventually were told at midday that our room still wasn’t available but we could have a ‘complimentary’ room for the extortionate price of £40. The staff were totally unhelpful. We were forced to get a shower and change in the communal facilities in the leisure centre. The duty manager was the most rude person I have ever had the misfortune of coming in contact with. All in all, the worst experience of our lives

Have stayed here numerous time before but this was a total shocker.The room (225)which is classed as a double was the worst room we have ever stayed in.I have uploaded pictures but a summary is stained chair,stained and torn curtains,glass had lipstick round it,coffee cup had coffee ring stain,the bathroom light was out,bathroom so narrow at points you have to turn sideways,no place for toiletries,cracked sink,dirty bath and there was a constant noise from a generator.Tried calling reception but no answer so had to go down to it were we were told there was no other room! Made sure the duty manager was aware but nothing was done.We stayed the two nights but made a hasty exit quickly on the second morning.I have even sent an e mail to the hotel with the pictures but there has been no reply and that was 6 days ago.

The staff were also so friendly and helpful. Dinner was good and breakfast was also very good. Had a great nights sleep in a comfy bed and comfy pillows

Had another great stay , been several times and a great location great facilities and really friendly staff.!! Great way to start the day by taking a swim and going in the sauna and steam room before a fantastic breakfast!! Dunblane town is definitely worth a visit and lots of history with the cathedral and library. Highly recommend a stay . Look forward to our next stay . Leigh & Sharon
