This hotel is super convenient, right in the bustling Ikebukuro area, surrounded by all sorts of restaurants and convenience stores. It's also just a few minutes' walk from the Ikebukuro subway station. My only minor gripe is that I didn't find the price particularly cheap.

This Toyoko Inn is relatively spacious compared to others. Besides the standard desk, there's also a seating area by the window with a table and chairs. The exterior looks old, but the rooms are quite new. I booked two different room types for two nights; one room had a really strong smell, possibly from the wallpaper, while the other had almost no odor. Not sure what that was about. There are several Toyoko Inns in that area, so be careful not to go to the wrong one.

The hotel is about a 10-minute walk from Ikebukuro Station on the Yamanote Line. The surrounding area is incredibly convenient, with a Don Quijote not far away, a FamilyMart and 7-Eleven downstairs, and various Chinese restaurants nearby. It's really great. The hotel rooms aren't huge, but they meet basic needs. Plus, breakfast is included and it's pretty good.

This was my first time staying at a Toyoko Inn, and I had a pretty good experience. Although the room was simple, it felt very cozy, and they provided a full range of toiletries. The staff were patient and helpful; I even encountered a male front desk agent who spoke Chinese, which made me decide to sign up for their membership card right away. The breakfast was basic but sufficient. I stayed for six days, and they made small adjustments to the menu daily, so I was always able to eat my fill, which was satisfactory. My only minor complaint was that I happened to be there during a major cleaning day, so I couldn't sleep in. I was asked to leave my room at 10 AM and couldn't return until the afternoon. Considering I was checking out the next day, it felt a bit unnecessary, but I also understand the hotel's dedication to cleanliness. The location is not far from Ikebukuro Station, but there's no direct elevator access. You have to take an elevator from a nearby mall down to the subway level. As long as you're patient, you won't have to drag heavy luggage up and down stairs. I would definitely consider staying here again next time I visit Ikebukuro.

The front desk staff can speak Chinese, which was very convenient. The hotel environment is excellent and very clean. The location is also quite good, right near Ikebukuro Station, and there's a FamilyMart convenience store downstairs. Highly recommended! 🤲🏻

My actual stay experience was pretty good. I encountered an auntie at the front desk who spoke Chinese, which was a relief because it was my first time in Japan and I was checking in alone, so I was a bit apprehensive. She helped me with the check-in process. I later realized that Toyoko Inn's check-in is super simple – you can do it completely self-service and contactless with just your passport and the machine. Pajamas and some basic toiletries can be picked up near the front desk. The hotel also offers a very simple breakfast in the morning, so don't expect anything fancy. The hotel's location is quite convenient. It's about a 10-minute walk from the subway station, which is probably the maximum distance you'd want to walk with luggage. After dropping off my bags, I could walk back the same way to reach a lively commercial street. The hotel is located right on the edge of a fairly bustling commercial area. Inside the room, the phrase 'small but perfectly formed' fits perfectly. There's enough space to open a suitcase flat. The bed comfort and size were both quite suitable. The buildings are quite close together, so there's not much of a view outside the window, but it's better than having no window at all. It seems that if your hotel booking exceeds a certain amount, you'll need to pay an additional tax, I think it's for bookings over 500. It's best to prepare cash or an international credit card in advance. I'm not sure if Alipay or WeChat Pay work.

About 10 mins walk to hotel from Ikebukuro station, not allowed to check in early, typical Japanese style hotel. Can open two 28 inches luggage still can walk, bathtub is clean!

Ikebukuro is incredibly comfortable; it has everything you could want for dining, entertainment, and shopping. The hotel is also a maximum of 5 minutes' walk from the subway, and there's a free breakfast.

Extremely satisfied! Even though I was only in Tokyo for three days for an urgent IELTS exam, Toyoko Inn is always my first choice when it comes to hotel chains.

Good location, reasonable price for this kind of Hotel in Tokyo. The room is not too small for 2 people staying.

Perfect for a pilgrimage.

We checked in yesterday at 3:00 PM. We arrived at 2:50 PM, and normally they'd let us check in early, but instead, they made us wait until at least 2:25 PM downstairs. The check-out time is also very early, 10:00 AM sharp. And that TV! We were casting to it, and it disconnected every 4 minutes, which was really annoying. The room layout was okay, even though it was quite small. But it felt like 'small yet complete,' everything was there. Lastly, this place cured my long-standing habit of overeating at hotel breakfasts. It's truly amazing how they managed to make the food... [goodbye][goodbye][goodbye]

From Ikebukuro West Exit (North), facing the red Sunshine City Hotel tower, turn left and walk straight for about 350 meters to reach the hotel. There's a nice little barbershop downstairs ✂️.
