The positives: room was clean, the bathroom well-stocked, and the location next to the University at Buffalo was very convenient. The Starbucks staff were very friendly, and the cleaning staff were efficient. The negatives: when I arrived everything wasn't working - the credit card machine, the elevator, the side doors. I was there for three nights for a conference, and Ahmik was the only staff member handling the reception, the entire time, despite the fact that the hotel was filled with conference attendees. I saw him handle all kinds of issues without assistance from other staff. The room was clean but delapidated and in serious need of repair. The bathroom had sections rotting around the shower and tiles. The bathroom door had big chunks of wood peeling off the bottom (and doors are easy to replace). My colleagues had similar complaints about their rooms. Mine was a premium room, and spacious, and from what I heard better than the regular rooms. This hotel was not at the level expected from a Hilton or a Doubletree, and certainly nowhere near the quality of recent hotels where I have stayed, including a different Doubletree a couple of weeks ago (the StrathAllan in Rochester), which was excellent).
