Wuzhen Huajianji Hotel

This was my first time staying at this hotel. I drove from Shanghai, and you can park for free on either side of the road right in front of the hotel. I arrived around 4 PM on the day of check-in. Since I wasn't familiar with the rooms, I asked the front desk two questions. First, I wanted to know if the actual room matched the promotional photos, as I had booked a 3-day, 2-night twin room with breakfast via a promotional voucher. To my surprise, the front desk staff gave me a cold look and replied in a rather impolite tone. All they had to say was yes, or that they could arrange a room with a similar layout. I don't understand why the staff member was so agitated. My second question was if I could upgrade to a room on the second floor, as I didn't want to stay on the first. Again, I was met with a cold stare, and they replied that only king-size rooms were available upstairs, which I accepted. But why the impolite tone? Does having a discounted voucher mean I can't even ask about upgrading? As someone who has traveled extensively for over a decade, staying in everything from youth hostels and B&Bs to five-star hotels, this is genuinely the first time I've encountered such an attitude. Now about the room itself: the mattress was just right—not too soft, not too firm—and the pillows were comfortable. The bedding was clean, and I slept very well. However, the air quality in the first-floor room wasn't fresh; I could smell mold, likely due to the plum rain season. The breakfast was identical for both days. The rice noodles with soup were delicious, I really enjoyed them. On the day of checkout, I asked a staff member and learned that the hotel used to be part of the Huazhu Hotels Group but now operates independently. From the hotel's environment (Tang Dynasty-style architecture, lots of greenery, and a beautiful natural setting perfect for photos) and the room amenities (towels, toothbrushes, combs, slippers, etc., all readily available), it's clear they invested a lot of money. However, the management truly seems to be lagging behind.

I called ahead and got a room upgrade to the second floor, which I was pretty happy with overall. The location is super convenient if you're visiting Wuzhen Xizha or Wucun, as it's quite close. Breakfast wasn't amazing but definitely filling, with noodles, congee, wontons, and bread all available.

Of all the places we visited in Jiangnan, Wuzhen left the gentlest and most healing impression. It's hard to put into words the profound sense of peace I felt – that unique tranquility and serenity of a misty ancient town, which instantly allowed my city-weary body and mind to completely relax. For a long time to come, I'll cherish the memory of strolling along Wuzhen's stone-paved alleys, lost in thought beside the flowing water and evening breeze, experiencing such beautiful, undisturbed moments. The overall stay at the Huajianji Hotel far exceeded my expectations. Compared to many guesthouses nearby, its quality and comfort were significantly superior. The environment was elegant and pristine, and the room decor was exquisite and clean, offering a level of comfort comparable to high-end hotels. Travel often involves unexpected itinerary changes, and the staff were incredibly understanding and accommodating throughout, showing thoughtfulness in every interaction. Wuzhen's charm and poetic beauty are everywhere – exploring Dongzha and Xizha, walking over small bridges and beside flowing streams, watching the lanterns light up at night. Every scene was captivating, making for a day that was both relaxed and fulfilling. Especially when the ancient town lit up at night, the atmosphere was simply magical. Both adults and children were completely immersed in the beauty and had a wonderful, enjoyable time. A special thank you goes to all the hotel staff. Even before our check-in, they proactively communicated with us in detail about our itinerary and thoughtfully reminded us of travel precautions. Their service throughout was warm and attentive. They even gave us a free room upgrade, which was a huge surprise. Even with last-minute small requests, they responded immediately and did their utmost to help resolve them, always thinking from the guest's perspective. Their meticulous and warm service truly made us feel valued. Revisiting Wuzhen after a long time felt as captivating as the first encounter. Just like Wuzhen's inherent gentle charm, once you've been, it never truly leaves you. And this Huajianji hotel is destined to be my only choice when I return to Wuzhen. I genuinely recommend it to every traveler visiting Wuzhen.

Far from the city, this is a very ordinary village house. The villagers are simple and kind. Surrounded by mountains and a river, it's perfect for walks. There are very few tourists, making it ideal for a slow-paced lifestyle. Come here to experience inner peace and tranquility, relax, and enjoy rural life.

Didn't expect to find such a great hotel in a lesser-known part of Wuzhen! The environment, hygiene, food, and service were all top-notch. It was fantastic. I'll definitely be back if I get the chance!

Came to Wuzhen for the weekend with my child. It's very close to Wuzhen, just a few minutes by taxi. The hotel environment is quiet and comfortable, and the service is excellent. It was very quiet at night, so I slept really well. Recommended!

Pet owners, please note: there's an additional 200 RMB pet cleaning fee charged on-site. It would be helpful if this could be stated when booking. The staff member (小姐姐) provided excellent service.

The environment and service were superb, and the hygiene was excellent. I really love this style of hotel. The staff were all incredibly warm and welcoming. When I checked in, they even upgraded my room, which I really appreciated! At checkout, they gave me a souvenir snack, which I shared with my friends, and everyone thought it was delicious. This is clearly a hotel that puts a lot of thought into its guest experience. Highly recommend!!!

The environment is elegant and comfortable, the rooms are clean and tidy, well-arranged, and the service is thoughtful and meticulous. Besides the usual amenities found in a star-rated hotel, they also provide disposable bathtub liners, umbrellas, yoga mats... plus fresh fruit and a late-night dessert of white fungus sweet soup, which was a very warm touch. I'll definitely stay at Hanamaki no Yado again.
