Alila Wuzhen

The room was clean and the environment was beautiful. The whole experience was fantastic. The hotel staff were very welcoming and helpful, especially Gary and Molly at the front desk during check-out. They made me feel right at home. The restaurant was also delicious.

I checked into room 324 at Alila Wuzhen on August 7th, expecting the 'surprise' experience typical of the Alila brand, but instead, I was met with complete disillusionment. 1. The water unexpectedly cut off while I was showering, lasting for about a minute. I was covered in soap suds, which was incredibly embarrassing and severely impacted my basic right to a comfortable stay. 2. The room was filled with a damp, musty smell. The bath towels were severely worn, with frayed and pilled edges, making their quality worse than even an economy hotel. 3. Upon checkout, the manager offered two bathrobes as compensation, completely disregarding the seriousness of the issues. This wasn't an apology; it felt like a second insult.

The hotel was decent, but it didn't quite live up to my expectations. The complimentary photoshoot experience was a nice touch, though, and the hotel's service was definitely excellent.

I finally got to experience the Alila Wuzhen, which I'd been dreaming of, and the entire stay was absolutely perfect – it's my top choice for a Wuzhen getaway! The hotel itself is a beautiful waterside architectural masterpiece, with minimalist white walls blending seamlessly with the waterways, recreating a modern Jiangnan village. It feels like stepping into a traditional Chinese ink painting. The winding paths and water lanes within the property offer changing views at every turn. The lighting is soft and gentle during the day, and at night, the lights reflect beautifully on the water. Every photo you take looks stunning, and the serene ambiance is just incredible. It's wonderfully removed from the hustle and bustle of the ancient town, offering superb privacy, making it perfect for travelers seeking a peaceful retreat. Check-in was efficient and smooth. The front desk staff were warm and polite, offering a welcome tea and patiently explaining the resort layout. Our Water House room was incredibly spacious with an open layout, and the large floor-to-ceiling windows brought the wetland scenery right into the room. The room was spotlessly clean, with a subtle and soothing aroma. The bedding was soft and comfortable, and the soundproofing was excellent, ensuring a peaceful night's sleep. The bathroom was expansive, with custom toiletries that had a sophisticated scent. The bathtub by the window allowed us to enjoy the garden view while soaking, which was a fantastic experience. The breakfast offered a wide variety of options, combining local flavors with exquisite Western dishes, and the ingredients were fresh. Strolling through the resort, you can visit the infinity pool and the tea house in the middle of the water. During your leisure time, you can walk around and birdwatch, experiencing the unique tranquility of a water town. The staff provided attentive and thoughtful service; they would always greet us proactively on the paths and responded promptly to all our requests. Compared to the lively guesthouses in Xizha, this place offers a more secluded and relaxed vibe. The architectural aesthetics, hardware quality, and attentive service complement each other perfectly, making it suitable for both couples' getaways and short, tranquil retreats. This stay far exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend it and will definitely choose Alila again on my next visit to Wuzhen.

The design is truly beautiful and stands out from the typical Jiangnan water towns. It's not far from Wuzhen and a taxi ride is very convenient. However, the maintenance details of the facilities could be better. The public areas are absolutely extraordinary. We booked lunch at the hotel, and dining with the beautiful scenery outside the window was very comfortable.

The thoughtful butler service was excellent, with attention to every detail. The environment was quiet and serene, and the restaurant's food was outstanding and very hygienic. The spa was also great. I booked the courtyard view room for a three-day, two-night stay, and for a staycation, it was a bit disappointing. Service: The hotel didn't offer a butler service, and no one informed us about the available activities. I had to ask about the travel photography, and only stumbled upon the tie-dye activity by chance. I have no idea what else there might have been. The welcome fruit in the room was just the three items shown in the picture, not the nougat and tea mentioned in other reviews. Maybe my membership tier wasn't high enough? >_< There was no pre-departure call, but I did receive a call asking for feedback after checking out. For the travel photography, they offered 5 free photos, and additional ones were 80 yuan each, with discounts for bulk purchases. The photographer did a good job. However, the 'fine-tuning' felt like a one-click edit; a hole in the umbrella prop was still visible in the retouched photos, which was quite sloppy >_<. When I inquired about buying all the original photos, I was told it was also 80 yuan per photo, so I decided against it. In the end, I bought 35 photos and got a 15% discount. On the positive side, The hotel itself is beautiful and very photogenic. The Sanbai Bar has a great atmosphere and isn't crowded. You can charge drinks to your room, and in-house guests get a 10% discount. Breakfast variety was also quite good, with cheese, ham, and salmon available. Several made-to-order items were offered à la carte, which helped avoid queues.

The rooms were decent, and the front and back courtyards were beautiful, but not very practical when it rained. The common areas were stunning, and the outdoor pool was a major highlight, overlooking the Egret Wetland with its excellent ecosystem. The Cisui restaurant was also great; we ate there twice.
