This was our second stay at the Mizpah. In the 2 years since our first visit the hotel seems to be a little worse for the wear. They are definitely understaffed. We were there 4 days and even when we asked for cleaning it just never happened. We were a group of 4 couples and we all had the same experiences which included: No cleaning services (we all just took towels from the hall supply, our keys wouldn't work on 3 of the 4 days so had to find someone at the desk to re-key (once no one available and had to leave my husband in the hall until I found a maintenance man who was off duty but very graciously opened our door for us, furnishings were more worn than previous visit, sink in the bathroom required turning about 5-6 turns to get any water, and claw foot tub should have a warning as it was very awkward. So I know it is a historical hotel and I try not to be too picky but sadly I would not stay there again.

I cannot recommend this hotel. The elevator did not work, which happens, but staff did not even offer to help with our bags. The room was very hot, I set the thermostat to Cool, and at 67 degrees, but room stayed at 77 degrees, making it very uncomfortable. Very evident that the hotel is very under staffed, and when I checked out I asked if I could get a call from management, and never received a call.

This is such a fun hotel with antiques, fabulous bar, local hangout. My husband said that this is his favorite hotel that we've ever stayed at. What a surprise! We've traveled a lot...mostly by air. This time we had to do a road trip to bring a new car home...yes, the dreaded road trip by car. It was really fun to stay at the MIZPAH. Made the trip. OH-- by the way..MUST have french onion soup at the steakhouse inside. Best ever!

Dinner and breakfast were both outstanding. Fantastic calamari, perfectly cooked medium rare filet mignon and out of this world creamed spinach.

Tired old hotel in need of serious facelift! Dirty Carpet, bar closed, dark and dated in every way. Does have possibilities but need some love!

Staying at the Mizpah is taking a step back into time, the aura of a century old Hotel steeped in Western history is the reason we chose to stay there. The property has been modernized a decade or so back and is being continually updated, although it is still a vintage experience with period furniture and lighting and countless framed wall pictures of the long gone glory days of Tonapah. What impressed us most was the friendly and accommodating staff that went the extra mile for us. We had a great nights sleep in a comfortable bed, zero outside noise. Morning breakfast of sausages and eggs topped off our stay. We will definitely come here again.

The hotel itself was clean and comfortable, what made it very uncomfortable was the restaurant manager screaming at her employee in front of myself and other guest! If I could rate this a zero I would, no one deserves to be humiliated like that in front of paying guest! will not ever stay here again.
