Long Bay Beach Resort

Generally excellent with one a few disappointments. The facility is attractive and our room was right on the beach, which is very nice you can’t swim there because of the coral. They offer a ride to a different beach but it is hard to swallow the room rate and not be able to swim in the ocean outside your door. There is a lovely pool with a swim up bar. The other concern was having to pay $8 a bottle for water in the restaurant. There were four of us and we were paying over $50 a meal (4 bottles)when the mandatory 15% service charge is included! No tap water is offered. Mini bars are always crazy and this one was not an exception: $7.50 for a small bag of chips. On the plus side, the rooms were very comfortable and attractive. The bed was great. The ac controls were, however, confusing for us. Be sure they show you how to use them. We had to call for help. The restaurant has excellent food. I especially Iiked the pan fried red snapper. The blt on a toasted baguette was a delicious lunch item. The service was island leisurely but very pleasant. The ambience is top notch. We might return when they don’t charge so much for water. It’s a real turn off.

This resort is perfection!! The staff makes you feel like family. The location is gorgeous. The food is delicious. The rooms were immaculate. And the view is unbeatable. Plus a free shuttle to another nearby beach. We had the absolute best time as a couple and can’t wait to return with our kids!

Beautiful and the employees were responsive to every need

We absolutely loved our stay at Long Bay, the newly refurbished resort is fabulous, chic yet understated. We had a ground floor room straight out onto the beach, with sunbeds right outside. The sea is quite wild but we didn't mind as it kept the cruising hordes away which meant the beach was very exclusive. There is a great pool, gym and spa so everything you could need. We took yoga classes on the beach twice a week, somehow yoga at home will never be the same! The restaurant and bar were good with a reasonable choice. Service could be a bit ad hoc but generally good and mostly always a smile. Our room was large with amazing showers, as someone else has pointed out though more hanging space is needed. The hotel has a lovely vibe, yes it's Caribbean which means things are a bit laid back, but we are used to that and it's best to arrive with a chilled attitude. Akil deserves top marks for always doing his very best to help with a friendly smile, the guy works his butt off and is always visible. Patrick the manager was very effective when needed, we would have liked to see him more, but he seems to run a pretty good ship. Would we return - without a doubt!

Our stay at Long Bay Beach Resort was great! Our room was beautiful with an amazing view of the ocean and we could hear the sound of the waves which was so relaxing! The staff is super friendly and always willing to help. Specially, Gia and Akil! We spent one afternoon in Smuggler’s Cove and the hotel gave us a ride to/from the beach. The hotel staff also coordinated the taxis to/from the ferries. Great property. Very quiet and relaxing.

First, my thanks to prior reviewers whose feedback was so helpful in deciding to try this resort. We are three nights into our four night stay on a family trip. Our oceanfront room is outstanding! Spacious, light, well-appointed, with a great and very comfortable king bed and pillows. I love the classy touch of having a french press in the room with very good ground coffee and real milk in the refrigerator. The large bottles of water were all free and quickly replenished (note: a pet peeve of mine is when an otherwise upscale resort charges for extra water bottles—feels like being nickel and dimed). The shower in the room was spacious and beautiful with natural stone facing, intuitive fixtures, and an amazing window with an ocean view that turns opaque at the touch of a switch. (Minor note to mgmt: a few hooks or way to hang damp suits/clothing to dry in the shower would be a nice touch). Superb balcony view. Unlike some hotels, we were able to turn off the air-conditioning at night and just sleep with the fan on and sliding door to the balcony open. The ocean waves and breeze were so perfect. There were ample chaise lounges and covered areas for lounging on the beach right in front of the rooms. The white sand beach was stunningly beautiful. One minor note: it was tricky to go for a swim because there are rocks all along most of the length of the beach just as you enter the ocean. However, there is one spot across from the beach bar with relatively few rocks (i.e., sandy bottom). There are also sandier-bottom beaches a short drive away. The staff, and especially Akeel (sp?), were very gracious and super helpful with arrival, rental car and dining arrangements. True concierge service. There was a nice facility with a gym, tennis courts and a large pool that we saw but did not use (I rarely use a pool when the beach is so inviting). It did not look like a good pool for lap swimming, but had a bar and looked nice for lounging. I would definitely stay again. Hope others find this helpful.

Wonderful experience from the minute we arrived, greeted warmly and with a rum punch by Akil Anthony, concierge, is definitely the glue that holds front of the resort together and keeps all the guests happy. Boat trip with Miguel was another highlight.

Couldn’t have picked a more perfect place to spend vacation in the BVI. The facilities are gorgeously and tastefully decorated with minimalist / Gypset effect. Food and drink menus are creative and varied. Views of the water are priceless as is how peaceful and quiet the bay is. Tennis a fun extra we weren’t expecting. Great pool with hot tub and pool bar / views of jost van dyke.

Long Bay Beach Resort is an exceptional hotel, from the rooms to the beach to the staff and the food. I first visited in July 2009, before the 2017 hurricane destroyed it. My husband and I returned for the first time in July 2021 and had such a fabulous experience that we came back again in late November/early December 2021. Jan, the GM, and Akil, the guest services manager, went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed, which included a computer monitor so my husband could work while on our trip. No hotel compares to Long Bay. You feel like you have the beach to yourself. Waking up in the morning, you walk directly from your covered and beautifully furnished patio to your high end cushioned beach chairs and sunbed. I am planning to return this July and cannot wait to enjoy the delicious mango smoothies and homemade tuna sandwiches on delicious fresh baguettes. This is a very special place. My husband and I feel comfortable staying at Long Bay to during COVID because we have enough distance from other guests to feel like we are alone.
