We stayed on one side of a villa, with a king bed, hot tub and full kitchen. Enjoyed the updated comfort in a quiet setting. Did cook a few meals; kitchen outfitting is basic but worked. Tesla charger was a draw for us and very convenient as there is no supercharger in town. We walked a few steps to the Appalachian Bistro one night -- excellent restaurant. Breakfast was best at the Dancing Bean.

Local Guide·178 reviews·80 photos What I know about working there is: Hosts aren't allowed to seat walk-ins right away. Management tells the hosts to make them wait for about a half hour before seating, that's policy. That's rude and poor customer service. They want … More

Dancing Bear lodge was great! Very relaxing, just what we needed, after a busy week preparing for a family reunion in a neighboring town. Food and accommodations were outstanding. There are lots of activities in the area for adults and children. This resort also allows pets (dogs) in many of their cabins.

We thoroughly enjoyed our two nights at DBL. Our cozy cabin was spacious with a nice bed, microwave, refrigerator, fireplace (usable only in season and comfortable chairs. There was a hot tub on our deck. The property grounds are beautiful. We enjoyed having a beer by the outdoor fire pit. I could have stayed longer.

Dancing Bear Lodge was lovely and quite luxurious in a rustic sort of way. There are 38 dispersed cabins of various sizes on the hilly site. Dogs are allowed in some of them. Each one is well-equipped; ours had a small kitchenette with sink, microwave and coffee maker, together with plates, cups, wine glasses and cutlery for 2. There was ground coffee in a jar and real cream in the mini-refrigerator. We had both a fireplace and a hot tub, as well as a porch with a swing. Both the closet and bathroom were spacious. The Appalachian Bistro on-site served pretty sophisticated food and apparently is a destination dining spot for folks in the surrounding communities. There was a Hallmark movie being filmed in the cabin across the road from ours one evening while we were there. Breakfast was the weak point; they gave us coupons for breakfast each day which could be used at the on-premises coffee house for a coffee and muffins or at the cafe at the base of the hill for pancakes or eggs, bacon & home-made biscuit. No fruit, granola, or yogurt. In-room housekeeping is only provided on request. You are given a card for each day of your stay on which you can request supplies and services. You are asked to post it on the door of your cabin for them to pick up before 11 am each day. On our first morning, they forgot to pick it up, so nothing we asked for was done. I brought this to their attention on our second morning. I got an apologetic note and, in addition, 2 housekeepers changed the sheets, gave us a lot of fresh towels and soap. In addition, the housekeeping manager stopped by in the late afternoon to accept responsibility for the oversight and offer his apology as well. That was nice. One other thing happened: upon our return home, my spouse discovered he'd left behind a small bag containing electronics accessories (earbuds, firewires, etc. ). He emailed the Lodge office to ask if they found it and got a quick phone call in reply that they had it and would be happy to send it to him (at his expense, naturally). We think it would be nice to go back sometime for a 3- night stay in autumn when the leaves are turning.

Wow. This is one of those places in the world that will just make you feel good from start to finish in your experience with them! The food, banging. The staff, amazing. Even the hostess came to visit my son and check-in on his dinosaurs! It was so sweet of her. We got the fish, we got the rabbit, we got some cornbread and some delicious Brussels stacked with pork belly. Uhhh, yeah! And when you’re done eating and on your way out they’ve got a fire going and a s’mores station for you to help yourself and enjoy the evening beyond dinner! Extremely unique experience. Great atmosphere, amazing drinks, creative food, it doesn’t get any better. We will be back! Many times!

The service of Dancing Bear was amazing. The cabin was clean and smelled like a new place. The hot tub was great and just a wonderful get away. We had dinner at the Bistro Aaron was our server and very knowledgeable and worth every penny. They really take care of their guests from check in to check out. I was worried that the cabin I had booked did not have a hot tub (website had not been updated) so I wanted to change cabins. The marketing director Ashley called me back and was very kind. She reassured the cabin did have a hot tub a brand new one in fact. She apologized for any confusion. Upon arrival I found a gift card in my cabin and a note of sorry about the confusion. I was very impressed by that. I didn’t ask for anything and they took the time to appreciate me and my money as a guest. We definitely will be back and looking forward to many years staying at the cabins there. Just a hour away but felt like a world away. I definitely love the quiet side of the Smokies of Townsend. The welcome gift was a nice touch and I loved the breakfast that was included with the cabin each morning. The best part of the reservation was no hidden fees. ❤️ Dancing Bear will always be our go to from now on Tammy Robertson

The cabin, Bistro, Apply Valley Cafe and the coffee shop was all top notch. The pancakes in the Apple Valley Cafe were absolutely amazing, best we have ever had. Highly recommend this place. All the staff were friendly and appreciative. The cabin was very clean and comfortable. We stayed here for the Cades Cove Jeep event.

This resort is quaint and beautiful. The first impression of my single cabin was one of instant home-based relaxation. The rooms are beautiful with a fireplace, large leather chairs, nice size bed, large bathroom/tub/shower. A deck with rocking chairs and a hot tub! Just lovely. When we arrived, the resort's Bistro was closed for dinner that evening. As a result, they suggested we order dinner for eat-in at the cabin (my buddy and each had our own cabin). The food was delivered and in the fridge before we even checked in. The problem is that it turns out that the Grill/Cafe at general store is open and we ended up getting a burger and beer. Why didn't they tell us that vs. suggesting that we order a meal catered/delivered? A few other minor things didn't detract from the overall stay, but were noticed (e.g., don't ask to have a card with requests taped to the door before 11AM if it turns out that staff aren't coming to get it anyhow.
