Karolina Park Hotel

The ground floor is the first floor so don’t get in the lift if your room begins with a one. Air conditioning is open the window which fails to cool the room and being on the ground floor is not a good idea anyway. There are strangely placed power points but no USB sockets. The bed was close to the ground, goodness knows how older folk manage getting in and out. There is a bath/shower but the side is high making it difficult for shorter and older people to get in and out. There was no hand rail to help. No safe for your valuables. The walls are thin, we could hear the next rooms toilet flush. There is a bottle opener and two glasses, BYO water etc., however there is a Lidl’s across the road but no alcohol sales after 8pm. Get ‘the’ hair dryer from reception. Internet connection works in reception and restaurant, for some, but not in our room, despite assurances from reception that it did. Our evening meal was basic but OK. The Ukrainian waitress was thorough and pleasant. The sheets were too small length and breadth and laid on the bed ready for us to try and make it properly, we failed. If you’re planning on staying for more than a day and want to put your clothes in drawers, forget it, there aren’t any. We did have a total of 3 coat hangers though so that’s a bonus. Oh the towel heater is permanently on.

In character with the country, it is a little more basic than most, but the room is serviceable with a bath/shower and T.V. No tea-making facilities or safe. But the food is very Good and a three-course meal in the evening. All in all a nice big hotel, on the main road, and walkable to the local shops.
