Clean room, good location in the middle of town, a nice (but small) onsen but the cherry on top was the delightful lady at the front desk who was lovely to talk to and also helped me tie up yukata (something I'm terrible at). It was great to meet someone as friendly as that after weeks on the road.

女将さんは韓国人。韓国人の従業員が多い。 温泉、布団、ホスピタリティはまあまあだった。 しかし、部屋の掃除、食事の配膳はどことなく雑であり、部屋もタンスが閉まらなかったり、照明の中に虫がいて虫が部屋で運動会する始末。 食事はまずくないが、おいしくもない。インパクトに欠け、山形や庄内らしさはない。 全体的にこの値段ですが残念でしたという印象。

鶴岡駅から1時間に1本程度の路線バスで30～40分ほどの場所にある湯田川温泉。 なんと、どこの旅館もかけ流しという温泉目的では宿を選ぶ必要はない。 時節柄、宿泊させていただいた宿もお客様は少ないようで、 いつ風呂に入りに行ってもほぼ貸切状態であった。 浴槽はお世辞にも広いとは言えないため貸切状態であればなんの問題もないが、3人入るとのんびりはできないかと感じる。 温泉はややぬるめであり、好み。長湯できるところがいい。 あまり知られていない温泉地ではあったが、満足できた。
