Shonai Hotel Suiden Terrasse Reviews

My biggest mistake of this trip to Yamagata is to book this hotel. It's a good hotel but it's in the middle of nowhere. You will want to stay around the city of Yamagata province which is also called Yamagata city just so you can get to famous tourist spots. However this is 4 hours away from all of these. I had to book another hotel so I can stay 1 day in the city when I wanted to visit these places and the traveling time just completely made me exhausted. It took like 1 day to go to a place and 1 day to go back. It was so terrible, I was crying. This place is closed to Shonai airport not Yamagata airport so I also had to book another flight from Shonai. I wasted so much money for transportation. It was such a terrible experience. However the hotel is incredibly beautiful with smart design in everything. I loved the onsen very much. If it was just a vacation/restcation for relaxing purpose or isolate yourself from the human word, it's the best choice for you. Since its in the middle of the endless rice field, there is nothing to eat except for paying very high price to eat at the hotel's restaurant. And the food was just okay. The beauty of this hotel was like a trap. Its like I was blind from its beauty and couldn't see all other disavantages.

i loved it so much! this place is perfect to just enjoy the scenery and weather! the onsen was perfect! take note that there’s nothing much around the area and it’s recommended to drive instead! the interior of the hotel was lovely and i loved the smell of wood everywhere! i throughly enjoyed staying here. the walls are abit hallow can hear other people closing door loudly, talking really loud etc.. the corridors are abit cold, and i found that the G area was really cold! (onsen/gym/sake block) however that could be due to the renovations! i would stay again if i had the chance to!

I stayed at this hotel for two nights. Generally speaking, it was a very pleasant experience. The design of this hotel is very unique and beautiful, making it a perfect fit for workation! You can see ducks playing around in the water field while working in the library. The sunset glow is just like a picture, which tinted the sky purple! So amazing. The only drawback for me is that the location is a bit far from Tsuruoka train station and the hotel does not provide a free shuttle bus service. I strongly recommend this hotel for workation, and I am sure I will be back again soon

As the name suggests, this is a terrace standing on a rice paddy. You walk along a long path that makes it seem as though you are walking through the rice paddies, and enter an open and bright building with high ceilings and large windows. With wooden bookshelves and showcases, and sofas and chairs arranged in a spacious space, this is a hotel where you can enjoy a leisurely time. As it is surrounded by rice fields, we had dinner at the hotel's restaurant. As with the breakfast buffet, they use plenty of ingredients from Shonai, so you can enjoy delicious locally produced meals. This wonderful hotel is fully equipped with hot springs and a sauna, where you can soak in the hot water and relax in the sauna while enjoying the smell of the water, the smell of greenery, and the Gassan mountain range.

This is my fourth time at this lovely hotel. It's a shame that there is only one towel in the room. I always ask for more towels in the questionnaire, but nothing has been done to improve. The breakfast is very good.

Perfect. My husband and I used it on a milestone trip. In order to have a good night's sleep, I applied for two private rooms for two people. It has a double bed, separate toilet and bathroom, and a perfect location with windows on the outside wall. From the restaurant's meal guidance to the careful selection of courses, I was able to enjoy the French cuisine course with peace of mind and deliciously. The guide to alcoholic beverages that go well with the food is also perfect and I'm very satisfied. In addition, the breakfast buffet was more than satisfying, with a focus on local ingredients. I would definitely like to reuse it.

There is a huge difference between the good and the bad. It has both the best restaurant and the worst public bath. The restaurant was really good. We have food you'll want to eat over and over again, and drinks so delicious you'll want to drink them all. You can eat authentic French food, but the inside of the restaurant is very casual. I think this is because the snacks and bread are all you can eat, so you have to stand and walk quite a bit. Also, the scenery is very good. As someone who has always loved the view of rice fields, it was a very luxurious time for me to be able to stare at the rice fields from my room without worrying about the temperature or climate. The rooms are also clean and comfortable. It has a lot of storage space, so it's a good place to hide your travel luggage. For that reason, can't something be done about the large public bath? I didn't come to the outdoor bath to play in the mud, and the indoor bath had a lot of mold on the entrance door and ceiling. (Women's bathing) I really wish I had taken an indoor bath. It was the first time I went to a hot spring and got out of the bath so early.

The response from all the employees is perfect! ・The bath was clean, but the air conditioning in the changing room wasn't working, so it was unfortunately hot after taking a bath. ・For dinner, the vegetables were delicious. The choice of wine that matched the meal was also good. But the meat was bad. The breakfast had a nice open atmosphere on the terrace. ・There were books in various fields, and I was able to read books that I don't normally get. ・You cannot see the scenery.

I stayed here for one night in January. There was snow all around and the scenery was beautiful. The room was clean and had large windows, so it was very comfortable. The large communal bath had an open-air bath and sauna, so you can relax both your body and mind. There is nothing particularly interesting to see near the hotel, but it's nice to stay in the hotel.

I stayed here as a travel destination because of the sauna. I think it's worth visiting at least once. I have great memories.

The front desk was very friendly and the place was very clean and comfortable. I just wish there was coffee service in the room.

The room was clean, and the moment I entered I could feel the warmth of the wood 😊 The view was also beautiful with rice fields and blue skies spreading out before me ⭐️ I stayed here for business purposes, but next time I'll come here for personal use!

A hotel designed by a renowned architect named Shigeru Ban. The image created by the gable-roofed ceiling of the main building is interesting, and each space designed with meticulous detail is excellent. However, if you arrive by train, you will need to catch a taxi at the station.

It's conveniently located, just a few minutes by car from the interchange. There are no convenience stores or shops within walking distance, but it would be convenient to have a car.
