When we arrived at Rukka Lodge we were faced with a blank wooden gate an an intercom that did not work. After managing to find a phone number on the website, a woman told us that she would not open the gate until she had found our booking (a booking we had made and prepaid three months before). Overall we were left out on the street for 30 minutes with our suitcases. When she grudgingly accepted that we 'might' have a booking, we were allowed in. It was not clear whether the person who let us in was the owner, a manager, or maybe a neighbour who kept an eye on the place! The room was large and clean and the communal area very pleasant. The swimming pool remained covered during our two day stay, presumably because 'the neighbour' didn't want to swim. We were told that breakfast (included in the price) would be at 8am.When we came down from our room there was literally no-one on site. We waited for half an hour and went out to get breakfast. Each time we returned to the property we were faced with the blank wooden gate and a ten minute wait to get back in until the 'manager or neighbour' saw our WhatApp message and came to open the gate. We were left looking like vulnerable tourists. We dare not go out after dark - it seemed like a lottery as to whether we would get back in. The next day (after I left), my daughter did manage to get breakfast at 8.45am, and was also informed that they had found our booking.
