It all started so well , booked room. Paid deposit , paid for room … Walked to room from reception , cleaning staff were refreshing rooms . It was mid afternoon so nothing to be of concern. Went into room , first red flag - - room smelt musty and damp 2nd red flag the bathroom smelt awful We checked the loo clean and full of clear water , the actual smell was coming out of the bath waste? We ran the bath which seemed to resolve the issue. 3rd Red Flag 🚩- no heating in the room. I went back to receptionist who was on a call so I waited. After 5 minutes they finishers the call and asked if all was ok? I explained the issues , they said they could get housekeeping to spray the room & maintenance to look at the heating. They did say it was easy to turn on as it was electric . I asked if there was another room ? They said to transfer to another room would be chargeable as we had used the room !!! I said we hadn’t used the room we had only been in it 5 to 10 minutes. At this point another person appeared in reception and said that I should return to my room so they could fix things. I was most upset by this 2nd person’s involvement but decided to go back to the room. I went back and my partner was watching TV with a cupp of tea she had just made. I discussed the issues and the response from teception. At this point a woman walked into the room and started spraying a deodorant or room spray …. No explanation or anything . She left after a minute. My partner were most unhappy with this so we gathered our bags and went back to reception. The receptionist looked a little stressed , we both explained the situation and asked for an alternative room as ours was unsuitable . The receptionist was then interrupted by this second reception person who said that any room transfer would incur a charge as our original room would require housekeeping to revisit. I explained wee understand that but our initial entry to the room made it aware that no one had used that room for a number of days . After much discussion it was agreed to transfer us to another room as goodwill. When I finally got my deposit back they had deducted a large amount for the original room to cover cleaning & preparation!!! If they had done it right first time then this would not have happened. My advice don’t book with Roomsbooked !!!
