Nightcap at Ocean Beach Hotel

The hotel was comfortable, clean and convenient. Was central to everything and had a lovely bistro downstairs. So you didn’t have to go anywhere if you didn’t want to.

Accommodation was above a Pub (not my usual pick), room was clean and spacious. Centrally located in town and walking distance to most things. 1km from beach. The Hotel, has a nice restaurant within and provided friendly and quick service. We were offered welcome drinks and breakfast to-go boxes for each guest, a lovely surprise! Highly recommended for all traveller types. Worth noting, no lifts available (stairs only) to upper level accommodation.

It’s the second time that we stayed in this hotel. First time was great. This time we couldn’t sleep. A lot of noise in the corridor. People talking until 2 am loudly and making noises.

Great location. Easy walk to beach. 3 bars. Everything you need in a few blocks. The gentleman who checked us in was so nice. Has all the basics you need. We had a large room. Great price.

I wouldn”t normally book pub accomodation but i am so glad i did , everything was so clean & fresh, loved our room & bathroom, no noise at all for a saturday night we heard nothing, the food was excellent, i had the snitty, hubby had a steak. Only thing was i didnt pack my hairdryer & there wasnt one in the room so i will pack one next time.  I will stay here again most definately, central to everything, we had a lovely brekky at a cafe down the road. Staff were so friendly & happy.

This was the 4 th time we’ve had an overnight stay to Ocean Beach Hotel. Almost every time has had a problem: the room’s hot water did not work, the power went out, and this time our room had an area of carpet that was saturated with water resulting in a strong musty smell in room. Each time the staff were apologetic and did try to rectify the situation. Certainly no fault of the staff on duty. This time we were offered a room change due to the smell, but by then it was late, we had unpacked and showered and were in our pj’s. so we declined the offer, thinking we’d get used to the musty smell. and I discovered the wet carpet afterwards. It’s a shame because the hotel is well located in town, has reasonable meals in the bistro downstairs, offers guests a free drink voucher, has off street parking, easy to get to… I understand that booking through booking platforms probably limits the options a manager has when things go wrong. It would go a long way, though, to be offered a discount on a future stay, for example. I suspect we have just had bad luck and it doesn’t mean we won’t stay again because we travel to Umina to visit family and the hotel is very convenient.
