Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Urbandale/Des Moines

Rooms were outdated and smelled of mildew. Breakfast was mediocre, and gravy was cold. When it was available, coffee was good.

This Microtel is by far one of the best ones I have stayed at. The room was clean, larger than most hotel rooms, and quiet.

Our weekend stay was clean , comfortable, and quiet. Having a broken leg, they accommodated us in a first floor room close to door. Rooms with refrigerator, coffee, and microwave. Sadly, the toilets felt so low to ground we could have been in grade school!? All in all a good visit.

Handicap rooms are on the second and third floor. Which doesn’t make sense to me. When I called to reserve a room, he told me that there would be a handicap on the main floor. The room was clean. The bed was really comfortable. Breakfast was good, but make sure you find out the time. We probably wouldn’t stay here again.

Everything is old and needs updating. The carpet has smells and the heat/AC cannot keep it cool enough so the carpet, the bed all of it felt damp because it was 100 degrees outside.

Great place to stop for the night. We would stay here again if we were in the area. Easy location off I80.

If you enjoy a nice hot complimentary continental breakfast - DON'T STAY HERE!!!! It WAS entertaining, tho - stumbling across all the ridiculous stuff going on in the dining room!!!! Yuck!!!

The outside looks nice, but the rooms are outdated and smelly. The first room smelled horribly strong of stale cigarette smoke. We couldn't even stand being in the room for any amount of time. The second room smelled like cleaning supplies, but once that smell dissipated, it smelled like cigarette smoke. Our room tv did not work. It turned on, but that was the only button on the remote that did anything. I will say, it was clean, and seemed like housekeeping is doing the best they can with what they have. I spent $170 plus a $20 early check-in that the hotel isn't wanting to refund even though I had to switch rooms and it was dang near the normal check-in time anyways. It was not worth anywhere near $170 a night.

Staff was moderately present. Many visitors for the staff and as a result did not know who was/was not staff. Room was nice.
