We were a group of 4 girls traveling to Machu Picchu and had a wonderful time. The food is exceptional, rooms are clean and cozy, all the amenities are top notch.

Yes, this hotel is costly, but our experience was so extraordinary that it was worth every penny. We were met at the train, our baggage was collected and we were guided to the bus up to the lodge. The young man who met us was friendly and waited with us for the bus and answered all our questions. All of the staff that we interacted with were friendly and professional. Service was outstanding across the board. Our suite with it's private terrace was pure luxury, with amazing attention to detail. We felt welcomed and pampered. The location allowed us to be the last visitors in Machu Picchu in the afternoon and the very first in the next morning. The experience without crowds was magical. We watched the sun rise from the temple of the sun and we were the only ones there! We enjoyed the pisco sour class at the bar, and the food and wine were excellent. I would do it all again in a heartbeat. If you are wondering if it is worth it, it most definitely is.

Location Location Location! It was nice after a long day not having to board a bus to go to Agus Caliente and enjoying a sunset at Machu Picchu instead. We took the Hiram Bingham up to Machu Picchu did an afternoon guided tour and checked into the Sanctuary Lodge. The next day we had 6 am tickets to it was nice to wake up at 5 and get breakfast at 5,30 and head back out to Machu Picchu. The coat ia high - We paid 1750 for the night but everything was included in that price including the mini-bar. I like that the hotel supplied us with mosquito repellant and sunscreen as well. The beds were very comfortable. The staff were polite and courteous. Our luggage was handled from Agus Caliente to our room and back. We didn’t have to worry about anything. Food at the Restaurant was tasty and good quality. So, if you have the budget, this would be a good choice.

From the checkin experience onwards everything was above expectations. The location is stunning on the Urubamba River and very quiet and tranquil.

A fantastic hotel located right at the entrance of Machu Picchu. Don't need to bother with taking the overcrowded buses in the morning from Aguas Calientes to get to this historical site. Staff extremely friendly. Food was top notch. Room was great. It is expensive though, given the cost of living in Peru itself.

The absolute worst Belmond and luxury hotel I have ever experienced. The staff is monumentally incompetent. Pre-booked Reservations and appointments were lost and not honored. Communication is terrible between staff and guests. Horrible experience which made our trip to Machu Picchu a disorganized and frustratingly unpleasant experience.

Staying at Sanctuary Lodge is an extremely convenient and comfortable way to visit Machu Picchu. It is a well designed concept and delivers everything you need to make the visit easy and pleasant. Of course, the nature of this place also gives a somewhat rushed feeling - guests in, guests out for one night only, but I guess very few come with an intention of a longer stay. Beautiful garden with hummingbirds.
