Before coming to Urumqi, I saw many people say that hotels can be hit or miss, but my experience staying here exceeded my expectations ✨. The front desk service was attentive, and they proactively upgraded my room for free. The room was 38㎡, spacious, and well-ventilated. The vanity, toilet, and shower were completely separated, with a sensible layout that was very comfortable to use. The hotel also offers a variety of pillows to choose from, and you can even soak your feet at night. The attention to detail was excellent, and overall, my stay was very relaxing.

LiuMKThe hotel is new and clean. It occupies several floors of a bigger building. All the facilities work well, including free use of washing machines, which we valued much. There are lots of eating outlets around the hotel, though you will need to take a bus to get to the bigger malls, and the International Bazaar. The bus top is just about 100 to 200m from the hotel, and hence provides easy access. Otherwise, the Didi works too. The breakfast area is small, and the spread is reasonable but not too big, with coffee and bread (for those yearning for western spread). Front desk service is very good, with friendly and helpful staff.

Guest UserLocation: The hotel boasts an excellent location, about a 10-minute walk from the Grand Bazaar and Metro Line 1 (which goes directly to the airport). There are plenty of shops downstairs and dining is convenient. It's in the same building as hotels like Ji Hotel, Atour, and Orange Hotel. During this Xinjiang trip, I stayed here for three nights (one night upon arrival, then two more consecutive nights after my circuit tour ended and I returned to Urumqi).
Facilities: The room size is generous, the bedding is comfortable, and the complimentary yogurt was from Cha Balei, which was delicious. The underground parking is a public lot; just remember to inform the front desk of your license plate before leaving to enjoy free parking.
Grand Bazaar Specialty Travel Photography: We were told the travel photography shop was under renovation and temporarily unable to provide services.
I didn't order breakfast at the hotel, as there are various shops downstairs making dining easy.

eleadreamsService:
For check in on trip, it says to call a day in advance. I tried this, but the person who answered couldn't speak English. It was not a problem, because I then messaged on the online chat. That was perfectly fine and they responded very quickly. I'd say if you don't speak Chinese, just message online. The front desk staff were super helpful when I was there, and quick to use a translator so we could communicate well.
Amenities:
I did some washing, laundry detergent cost ¥10 I think, and again the staff were very helpful, finding as many hangers as I needed to dry my clothes.
Location:
The environment was so peaceful, the lobby was a nice air-conditioned place to hang out. The outside grass area was so lovely, with little lavender and rose plants and chairs to sit outside. There is also a bar across the courtyard, and a coffee shop. The area is a bit far out of the city, but it is right near the metro, lots of local shops, and a mall with some big chain stores.
Things to consider:
I stayed in the single room attached to the women's dorm. It was so handy to have my own space for a very reasonable price. However, the single room itself does not have its own air-conditioning. The women's dorm does, so to cool the room down, I would just keep the door between open for a bit. Still, it was never as cold as the dorm room because it went up to 40°c outside when I was there, and I preferred to keep the door locked when I went out to keep my belongings safe. The single room does have a fan and a window, so you can get some airflow through there. Overall, it was fine, just be aware if you are travelling during the summer. (Also one suggestion I would have is to put a mirror in the room, so you can get ready in there).
The only other issue was no soap for washing hands in the dorm bathroom, although there was shampoo and conditioner provided in the shower.
Cat:
The cat was so cute! 🐈

newwinhomeI mainly chose this hotel for a museum visit the next morning, as it's a convenient 10-minute walk away. The parking downstairs is incredibly small, with only a few spots, so even arriving at 3 PM, it's usually full. However, if you talk to the front desk, they can direct you to a residential area about a 5-minute walk away. You pay there and then get reimbursed by the hotel.
The room was on a lower floor, and the family room itself was decent-sized, not small, but it was close to the elevator and quite noisy. I was woken up around 6 AM by people talking and the elevator sounds. Even when I wasn't sleeping, I could hear the robot vacuum cleaning on an incline. The bathroom facilities were fine. Although the hotel is next to an overpass, the noise wasn't significant, especially at night with fewer cars, so it didn't bother me.
The front desk service was mediocre. The tall young men and women, whether checking in or out, had a very indifferent attitude, almost like children talking to their parents – 'What?', 'Oh?', 'Huh?'. They only answered when asked, and their height made them seem even more condescending. The whole experience felt uncomfortable. They are the face of the hotel and need to improve their demeanor, not just be tall.
Overall, the location is good; it's convenient for takeaways and dining out.

Guest UserAs a frequent business traveler, this Holiday Inn Express in Urumqi is one of the most reliable I've stayed at. The room was clean with no strange odors, and the bed was very comfortable, ensuring a good night's sleep. The 24-hour hot water and laundry room are incredibly practical, perfect for business travelers. Breakfast was fresh and filling. The front desk staff were efficient, making check-out a breeze. The location is convenient, with plenty of dining options nearby. Overall, it's a stress-free and comfortable stay. Highly recommended!
