Urumqi Flora Secret Realm Hotel (Xinjiang International Grand Bazaar Branch)

The front desk service was terrible and unhelpful. The hotel's cleanliness was subpar, with a strong smell of smoke in the room. There were several people smoking in the lobby during check-in. It felt unsafe and a bit chaotic; I wouldn't recommend staying here. The price was too high, and it was quite noisy at night!

The hotel is surrounded by a bustling area full of street vendors and shops, with all sorts of food available. There's a bit of traffic congestion, but everything else is fine. It shares a building with other hotels, including Atour, right next door.

The location is fantastic, making it super easy to get to the Grand Bazaar. There are also tons of great restaurants nearby. The room itself has a lot of character and is equipped with modern, high-tech facilities. And the complimentary yogurt they provide daily is absolutely delicious!

Facilities: The facilities are excellent. Service: The ladies at the front desk were all wonderful. They even upgraded my room for free when I extended my stay, and the service was very attentive. Cleanliness: The hygiene conditions were also great. Environment: The room decor was very unique, and the lighting was just right, not too harsh. Plus, there are plenty of great places to eat downstairs.

The room was great, very ethnic in style, and super clean. They even gave us delicious yogurt, and my colleague and I each got a complimentary travel photoshoot. There was a small extra charge for makeup, but it was totally reasonable! Definitely no rip-off tourist trap vibes here. Our makeup artist, Anna, was super nice too! I highly recommend requesting her for your makeup.

New hotel, clean and hygienic, I really liked the room's color scheme. It was so comfortable that I extended my stay by an extra night. The front desk staff and the housekeeping aunties were all very enthusiastic~ I'll definitely come back next time I visit Xinjiang~

Here’s an honest breakdown of the pros and cons 👇 📍 Location: Convenient for getting anywhere • Jinquan Shopping Mall – 5-10 minute walk (the basement is fantastic for browsing, handicrafts are cheap) • International Grand Bazaar – 15-25 minute walk • Hetian Erjie (Second Street) – 20-30 minute walk (a foodie paradise) • Small market behind the hotel – downstairs; offers grilled skewers, grilled eggs, and fruit at night, full of local life • Taxis – starting fare 8-12 yuan, plenty of empty cabs during off-season, easy to get around 🏨 Stay Experience Price: Super affordable during the off-season (March), nearly half the price of peak season. Room Upgrade: The front desk proactively upgraded my room, which significantly enhanced my stay 👍 Power Outage: The entire street experienced a power outage on the first night, not the hotel's fault. Recovery was quick during the off-season. Front Desk Service: You can store luggage, making it convenient to explore the Grand Bazaar after check-out. Decor Style: Very satisfied! A "secret realm" vibe, dark tones with warm lighting, high quality, and great for photos 📸 ⚠️ Two Minor Issues Underfloor Heating Too Hot: Staying in March, it was so stuffy at night that I sweated and woke up several times due to the heat. Average Soundproofing: I could hear people talking in the hallway and doors opening/closing next door. Not suitable for: Those with extremely high demands for soundproofing or who are sensitive to room temperature while sleeping. 💡 Check-in Tips 1. Bring earplugs as a backup. 2. Spend half a day exploring the basement of Jinquan Shopping Mall. 3. Don't miss the small market behind the hotel at night. 4. Store your luggage after check-out, then pick it up after you're done sightseeing. 5. If staying in winter, bring a short-sleeved shirt in case it gets too hot, so you have something to change into. 6. Bring a humidifier; it's very dry. The hotel has them, but I didn't use theirs. ✅ Overall Review Flora isn't a perfect hotel – it had power outages, stuffiness, and soundproofing issues. However, its location, price, and decor style are truly a rare find in Urumqi city center. In March during the off-season, two nights with a free room upgrade, I was very satisfied.
