Universal Hotel Urumqi

Great location, very convenient. It wasn't crowded. The front desk service was exceptional—warm, professional, and thoughtful. They even upgraded my room and sent a fruit platter. The room was a bit old, but well-maintained. The lobby bar service was also excellent, with professionally made coffee.

1. The first room I checked into had a leaky air conditioner that wasn't fixed even after maintenance, so I had to switch rooms. 2. The second room wasn't cleaned properly; there were fruit residues left on the floor by a previous guest. 3. The design is flawed; water flows from the shower directly into the main bathroom area. 4. The weighing scale was broken. 5. I needed to freeze ice packs for medication, and when I asked the front desk for help, they said their department couldn't do it and told me to ask the bar. The bar could only refrigerate, not freeze. This is the only hotel throughout my trip in Xinjiang that wouldn't even help a guest freeze ice. It's incredibly disappointing, especially given that just outside the hotel is real estate advertising Urumqi as an excellent tourist city – quite ironic.
