Burrstone Inn, Ascend Hotel Collection

Needed extra pullout bed. Wasn't there initially and got nervous. Within 10 min it was delivered with fresh linen. Needed extra towels next morn & they were waiting outside my door wrapped up. Great staff, good food, great karaoke on Weekend. Definitely will return next time in central NY.

This hotel is in serious need of attention. Many of the common areas were visibly dirty, with stains on both the floors and walls. In one hallway, I noticed a fire alarm hanging loosely from the wall. This was just one of several safety violations I observed as someone who trains others in OSHA compliance. My initial room (130) had clear signs of water damage on the ceiling and felt damp throughout. Worse, I discovered spiders crawling on me while I slept and found spider egg sacs in multiple corners. I was moved to Room 128 the next morning, which didn’t have the same spider issue, but was still damp, had a strong mildew smell, and dirty floors. Although I wanted to check out early, the city was completely booked due to a local event. This made the experience even more frustrating. The general manager, or the woman I believe to be the general manager, was unprofessional. She repeatedly sat in the back office and refused to assist waiting guests when the front desk clerks were away helping others. On one occasion, another guest and I waited nearly 10 minutes before she reluctantly came out to assist us. On my checkout day, I requested a late checkout due to a delayed flight and was told I had to pay $40 because “the hotel was really busy.” As a Choice Rewards member who had dealt with multiple issues during my stay, I found this response especially disappointing. The only reason this review isn’t a 1-star is because the evening and morning front desk clerks were truly exceptional! They were friendly, helpful, and genuinely kind. They went out of their way to make things easier for my daughter and me, and I’m grateful for their service.

I was initially supposed to stay at the hotel on Tuesday but weather forced me to change my plans. The hotel nicely gave me a credit.

We had a nice stay. The room was large and clean, the bed was comfortable, and the bathroom was in great shape. The staff workers that we interacted with were warm and helpful. My only complaint is that when we checked in and when we checked out, there was no one at the front desk. At check-in, we had to wait a bit, and there was no way to call for someone to come.

Very clean and comfortable. Everyone we came into contact with was very friendly and helpful. Complimentary breakfast was standard free hotel breakfast and good. Lots of room with many tables. We arrived after 11 pm and left early morning, so admittedly we did not spend much time there. I would stay at this hotel if I am ever back in the area.

checked in late and the front desk was very accommodating. I even lost my room key before I got in my room lol and the gentleman at the front desk was more that happy to give me a new set. The room and the bathroom were very spacious and clean. The sofa had a pull out bed and an ottoman. There was a desk and and plenty of nightstands. I would definitely stay here again. Utica college and SUNY-Polytech are very close.

Great location tucked away in Lil neighborhood that is quiet and just perfect. The beds are so comfortable and pillows I want some of those!!! The restaurant and bar are super chill with pool table, darts, and karaoke. Kelly is my favorite, she is great at her job and her demanor, attitude and spirit lifted me up even during a difficult situation. Thank you Kelly keep it up!!! Nikki is overworked (not by the hotel she runs😂😂😂) she stays positive and is helpful. She is on top of everything!!!! Thanks Nikki for being there always for my Friend. :). We love you! guy named Craig who is a regular; seems to stay long term. We played pool for few hours and have had a nice meal which I scarfed down cause it was so damn good! Lol. we even wound up doing laundry together!! If you see Craig during your stay tell him Jeremy says hi 🙋‍♂️ I meant to sing karaoke with him cause he does every week at 8. If you see this Craig, I am sorry for lying to you and missing out. Events beyond my control prevented me from being there. It would have been the highlight of my trip! :Thanks Lil buddy!!! And so, I have to say before I go That I just want you to know I've found a reason for me To change who I used to be A reason to start over new And the reason is you :). Stay here when you are needing a place! even if ya gotta go 50 miles out the way!!! You will be glad that you did!!!! It’s never too late to do the right thing :).
