Mida Creek is a hidden gem just across the creek from Temple Point, the tip of Watamu. It is on a private cove with a mangrove island to protect it. The grounds are manicured, the pool is crystal-clear, the outdoor gym is inviting and the various lovely eating spaces at garden or tree levels make private dining possible. The kitchen is fresh and creative, with moringa pesto being a uniquely delicious dish. The staff are well-trained and run the place efficiently. Maryam the Manager is a friendly and accommodating professional. The hotel's domestic cats and dogs are well cared for, as is an exotic plant nursery. I highly recommend this intimate, stylish, well-run boutique hotel and will definitely go back for more.

We visited the Mida Creek Hotel to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary, and everything about it was wonderful. A mistake was made on our booking, which meant our room wasn't ready for us when we arrived in the middle of the night, but Maryam, the manager, went above and beyond the call of duty to ensure we were fully taken care of. All the staff at the hotel are lovely, friendly, helpful and always greet you with a big, genuine smile. Special mention goes out to David, captain of the little boat that took us to and from the Watamu side of the creek whenever we needed him, and to Zaid, who took us out on a couple of cruises, where we saw lots of dolphins, did some snorkelling (& saw loads of fish) and watched the flamingos at sunset. Everything about our stay was idyllic. And it was great to meet Myles the owner, who was also amazingly helpful and accommodating. Food was great, service was great, we couldn't fault anything and loved every minute. 100% recommended.

How do I start to describe the best hotel experience I had. Arriving at Mida Creek Hotel was like entering a quite oasis. You enter a kind of community hidden among the mangroves and the jungles by the shore of the creek. You can draw parallels to the movie "the Beach", in the sense of serenity, reclusiveness and beauty. You can go to the hotel by boat, driven by captain of the hotel, a kind and professional boatsman and fisherman. He also does sunset flamingo tours which we took and were absolutely impressed by! Hotel is also reachable by taxi, which the hotel can organize for you, strongly recommended! The hotel is isolated (which is a strong point), you are not bothered by salespeople or crowded beaches like in Malindi or Diani beach, and you have the creek almost to yourself. Even if you develop cabin fever, the captain is always to boat you. Staying isolated at the hotel won’t make you gastronomically bored either, as the hotel has managed to find the best chef on the Kenyan seaside! The menu has good varieties too, local food, burgers, pasta, seafood to name a few! It was one of the greatest food experiences we had in Kenya. Hotel quality is impeccable and is kept super clean and tidy by the greatest hotel staff we encountered – anywhere in the world. From cleaners to the barmen to the pool boy, they all contributed to making our stay as great as possible. It felt like you were staying at a family run hotel, they were all so kind, caring and sincere. The hotel also has that very local vibe, you truly feel Kenyan culture there. And you live in nature, literarily! Greenery, animals and birds are plentiful. Amazonian I would say. Special thanks to David, for being such cool guy and also organizing such memorable kayaking trip through the mangroves. It might sound too good to be true, but it actually was. The hotel had something that no other hotel we have stayed at has had – that feeling of arriving in a special place. Just like in The Beach. After discussing any suggestions for improvement, we couldn’t really advise anything other than making sure to keep the place as it is. Having any hotel in the environment like a jungle, creek or sea will take its toll in the long run. Working on keeping it impeccable is the only advise we could give. And also to introduce at least one more breakfast option, for a few days the current breakfast menu is good but after a couple of days more a variety would be nice.

We loved our couples visit at The Mida creek in Watamu. Amazing place to be with your cherished person. The ambience was great, views breathtaking and staff most friendly. It was hard to pack and leave. We hope to visit again soon! Highly recommend this place.

I stayed here for approximately a week (partly in a double, partly in the backpackers room) in March 2022 and already cannot wait to go back. The staff is beyond kind, breakfast is delicious (fresh and a generous portion), the pool + view over the creek are amazing, everything is super clean, there is nice cool breeze (certainly welcome in the humid climate of the Kenyan coast), their menu for lunch/dinner is really good, loads of comfortable beach beds and lounge seats around the pool/dining area, gym is great (!), showers are heaven and attention is paid to all the little details (think about the availability locally produced shower gel, clean towels and beach towels every day that smell like heaven, etc. etc.). There is even a captain (super cool and knowledgeable guy!) who drops you off at the other side of the Creek at any time. If you request so, he also takes you on trips. We for example did a boat tour to spot dolphins (saw them from only some meters distance!), snorkle and paddle board. Definitely recommended! Long story short: this place is worth every penny you pay. I don't think I've ever stayed at a place this beautiful and greatly organized and would recommend everyone!

The place is beautiful and very clean. It's green and eco friendly. I never saw a single plastic when I was there. The rooms are clean and staff are very helpful. The views are great and I enjoyed the boat ride. The food is awesome too. I would recommend it 100%.

The Mida Creek Hotel is highly recommended. Mariam, the manager, treats each guest like family. The accommodation, food, location, attractions and attention to detail is exceptional. We truly felt like we were VIP guests. The staff need a special mention - each person truly made us feel the Kenyan spirit of Karibo (welcome). Chef Charo pays special attention to serve delicious food, often off-menu. The daily boat trip across the estuary to explore the various beaches, coral reefs and Watamu Village was manned by excellent, knowledgable, friendly skippers. The facility is well equipped with beach towels, water bottles and snorkelling equipment available. A spotting scope at the bar allows you to truly experience the local bird life. The hotel is peaceful, with only 6 rooms but plenty of space, we were able to truly relax, feeling like we were living on our own little plot of tropical beach life. The local people are helpful and friendly, we felt safe at all times. I cannot recommend The Mida Creek and Watamu enough - it was a stay of a lifetime and I’ve already planned my next visit.
