Picturesque location. Lovely room and spacious bathroom. Staff very friendly. Food was exquisite. Would gladly come again. The hotel is large with inside and outside seating including some on the river front. The breakfasts offer a good variety of choice.

Overall was disappointed with our stay at the Trout at Tadpole Bridge. On the positive side, the breakfast was excellent , good choice of food of very good quality. The staff were very pleasant and provided a very good level of service. The hotel is in a most splendid location with plenty of parking. The negatives would be the rooms. My family occupied two rooms both of which were very unclean. There was dust everywhere and both rooms felt like they needed a deep clean. Added to this, the rooms really need the decor to be refreshed having a number of areas which required repainting. To be honest, the rooms were the worst we have come across. The result is, we will not be returning as l am sure other hotels in the area provide better value for the money.

Stopped for lunch. Looks expensive says friend! Not at all. Excellent value. Big plus…..proper sized cloth napkins….excellent fish & chips. Friendly service. Will go again, sadly not that way very often. Plenty of parking. Varied menu. Something for everyone

Stayed one evening mid-week on the 'Winter Break' tariff last week and we're pleased to say it far exceeded our expectations for a 'pub stay'. From arrival, the team were welcoming, helpful, attentive and not 'in you face' . Evening menu was different to the normal pub-stuff and was well done, presented and delivered with great service. Compliments to both front-of-house and those in the 'galley'. Our room was warm and clean. Following our experience at 'The Trout...' , we will be looking for another pub stay that offers similar value-for-money and quality. That might be tricky though ;-) Thanks team-at-Trout.

I visited the trout last Saturday, the food was amazing and the service from the lovely Ellie was exceptional. I definitely would recommend coming here. The location is a bit out there but in the summer it will definitely be worth the trip as there is the river walks just over the bridge. Thank you so much, I will be back!

After a miserable day when everything was going wrong we were so glad we had booked a room at the Trout,We had a drink in the bar area by the lovely warm fire, and then a rest in our room and everything started to get better. Had a nice dinner in the restaurant ,and a very good breakfast. The staff are all very pleasant.

I wouldn't recommend this pub to anyone. Regrettably, our experience was not up to the expected standard. It's a long one.... Upon checking into our initially assigned room, located above the pub restaurant, I encountered issues that I had not experienced in my stays at other pubs with bedrooms. While I have been a repeat guest at other places without any prior concerns, this time proved different. The room, while basic, was generally acceptable. However, the thin walls became a significant drawback, allowing us to hear every conversation from the pub throughout the day and evening. Additionally, our neighbours returned late at night, banging the door, and engaging in a conversation that, under normal circumstances, wouldn't have been problematic. Unfortunately, due to the thin walls, we were kept awake until 2 am. When we expressed our concerns to the manager, there was a noticeable lack of empathy. He did not offer an apology or ask any questions; instead, he moved us to another room. Being in this industry for a long time, I would have expected more concern on a guest being asking to move rooms. While this room was an improvement, the uncomfortable bed and noticeable damp issues in the bathroom were again, notable drawbacks. On Sunday, we were disappointed to discover that the pub closed at 6 pm, limiting our options for the evening, especially as on Saturday night, the pub closed at 10pm. Our disappointment peaked when we were awakened at 3 am by a banging noise from the bathroom, accompanied by unsettling sounds suggesting a rodent issue. I did recommend investigating and addressing these concerns promptly however I was told that what I heard was in fact wrong and it was a broken fence outside... this isn't truth. I’m aware old buildings will have these issues, but it’s not a nice experience as a paying guest to hear this, especially in the bathroom. This weekend held special significance as it was a birthday celebration for my partner. I have stayed at other pubs and had been thorough in selecting accommodations after weeks of online research. Unfortunately, the overall experience left us genuinely upset, and obviously, we are unable to rebook another weekend for the birthday celebration. Having paid over £200 to stay here, plus another £150 on food and drink, I am left feeling really disappointed! The only positive about this pub is the kitchen; the roast was among the best we've ever had, and the breakfasts were truly outstanding. Despite the culinary delights, the accommodation fell very short of our expectations. I sent this to the pub and got a robotic response so I don't expect anything else from them. However I wanted to strongly not recommend to all wanting to book this pub as an accommodation option and to choose differently.

I planned to stay a night at this hotel whilst walking on the Thames Path from Newbridge to the source, as it is on the route, and most other hotels were miles from the river itself. After walking 6 miles in the pouring rain, I wandered into the bar to make myself known, and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. They didn't mind a bit that I was soaking wet! I was taken to a lovely room, which was very spacious and had radiators available for me to dry my clothes, and tea making facilities, which was most welcome. After warming myself up, I went for a meal in the restaurant, which was absolutely lovely, and had a good night's sleep, followed by a lovely breakfast to set me up for the next part of my walk. If I am ever back in the area, walking the Thames or otherwise, I will definitely return here.

We had a marvellous room which had external door to balcony area, separate lounge/tv suite, clawed bath and large bedroom. Fresh milk supplied for our hospitality tray and coffee plunger. Bottled mineral and sofa water also included. Beautiful river bank setting. Room not quite ready when we arrived but a quiet drink in the garden passed the time quickly. Unfortunately we were unable to eat in as a large group had already booked in.
