I visited this hotel with a group as part of a cross country skiing holiday. The service in reception and in the bar/ restaurant area was beyond rude. The staff seem to think it is an inconvenience to serve you, even when you are paying for food and drinks. I feel very sorry for the owners of this establishment- their staff are really letting them down. Bad atmosphere and rude staff !

The hotel has everything you need to enjoy your time in Norway. We each stayed in a single room and they were very clean and the bed was very comfortable. We had a cheese pizza for dinner which we found to be a bit oily and massive amounts of cheese (but others may enjoy their pizza this way.). The breakfast was very good with plenty of choices. The front desk staff were so helpful and friendly. The pool looked fantastic, although we did not use. We opted to use the hot tub which was good but the water lukewarm. We would definitely recommend this hotel.

Really enjoyed staying in the new mountain lodges as a family. Big windows to watch people go by and plenty space to relax. Very good Norwegian food. Initially it seems like it offers dogsledding and ski tuition but you get a contact to organise this yourself. We stayed at Venabu last year where one member of the ski group got a taxi to meet the rest of the group so I thought this would be possible, for example for my mother to travel to see the dog sledding a couple of miles away at Venabu or to get food from the supermarket. Unfortunately the taxi needs to come from Ringebu at equivalent of £70 so you need to ski, walk or drive. The hotel lacked a feeling of ownership, there was no information in the apartment about the layout of hotel and where to find everything, no information on lunch packing for the day, opening times for the aquavit or the skistall. We were told off for filling flasks at breakfast even though there was no sign informing of a cost and others were doing it. Our dinner was booked for us at time of the hotels choosing rather than ours ( though you can turn up at at time really). We tried to go to the aquavit barn but it was only open for a private group and the main bar was closed when we went at 7.30pm for an 8pm music session. They were trying to promote it but bar shut. It was comfy, very warm and great food but needs better customer service for the price it charges to make guests feel welcomed as opposed to staying in a large mountain hotel.

Great place to visit. Excellent Buffet dinner and great breakfast. Nice indoor swimming area but jacuzzi was a little too cool and Steam room out of order.

Pros: -Exceptionally good breakfast buffet and evening buffet. Lots to choose, there is something for everyone, even tho it repeats every time. -The lodge has his traditional look from outside but the rooms are renovated and have all the amenities you need for a short or long stay. Every bedroom has his own bathroom. -Huge area to explore overlooking the hills and perfect for ski. -Pool, whirlpool, sauna access, activities in and outside the lodge. -Live music in the evenings. -Very friendly and helpful staff. -Easy check in and out. Cons: -There was no avocado for breakfast and no Parmesan at the cold cuts. -The bedrooms, beds, bathrooms in the lodges are small. The upper bed (bunk bed) is made for children, not much space for an adult, almost impossible to get up or down. Hard mattress, no sockets next to the bunk bed to charge your phone. -No welcome drink or whatsoever in the room. - -Dusty in most parts. -There is no separate room to relax at the pool area, it can get noisy when it’s crowded and when the whirlpool is on. The area needs a renovation, rusty and outdated in the pool area and changing rooms. Best time to take a swim and relax is from 0700-1100 and 1900-2100. -The rooms per night and drinks are overpriced and there are some alcohol brands you can’t find in this hotel. Overall and nice Norwegian traditional lodge and ok stay.

It's indeed a cozy hotel. A lot of charm in those 100 year old walls. Welcoming staff. A great place for outdoor activities - for example cross country skiing. Cozy restaurant with a large breakfast and dinner buffet. The dessert table was impressive. The superior+ rooms are renovated and nice (but the bathrooms are tiny and the shower too). Brand new gym with up to date equipment. However, several things were less satisfying: - They served a 3 course dinner the second day. The carrots and beetroots weren't properly cooked. The veal (NOK 399) not very tender, and the whole meal was far from hot - even though we arrived when they opened. - The bar (Låven) is nice and cozy. Unfortunately, there was live music both Friday and Saturday. They played way too loud. Not possible to have a conversation without screaming. I truly believe most adults are fed up with this. We (2) had to go somewhere else and sit by ourselves to be able to speak to each other. Same(!) songs next day, only in a different order. What's the point of having live music like this? To sell drinks? This is not worthy of "Norway's coziest mountain resort". - The reception bar closed rather early, so we had to buy drinks in Låven bar - which was very understaffed and crowdy in the evening. Had to wait in line for 10 minutes to get a drink. Drunk people. No grown-ups to supervise. Chaos. What could have been a really nice weekend, became "just a weekend".

Excellent location for cross-country skiing with superb food on half-board. Lovely swimming pool. Well groomed trails with variety of difficulty. New Year celebrations were amazing. Very comfortable well- equipped and cozy lodge. Best view of the Northern Lights ever.

Great place for families. Lots of stuff to do and experience. Missing a fitness room, but thats coming in December. Swimming pool was a favourite with the kids. The place is still a bit of a mix between old style mountain hotel and resort, but you can see that they are improving it step by step.

We were hiking in the area and went to the hotel restaurant for Rømmegrøt and spekemat. The chef must have forgotten rømme (sour cream) in this batch, and the taste was quite bland. The spekemat was scarce as well. We have eaten here previously and, we are sorry to say, this time we went home disappointed
