Hotel Locanda Canal

We arrived at the most expensive hotel (AU$1600 for 3nts, 2 adults) we had ever stayed at, there was no lift to our room on the 1st floor. I struggled to carry 2 suitcases with no assistance from the gentleman in reception up to the 1st-floor room. This would be very difficult if we were older & unable to carry our cases. The wi-fi didn't work in the bedrooms only in the public areas - even though we were told it would. The bedroom had multiple squashed mosquitos on the walls next to the bed. The lace curtain had a couple of cigarette burns on it. The bedcover had a cigarette burn on it. The telephone handset cable was not connected to the .telephone - I tried to fix it but it wouldn't stay in the socket. The safe was not working. The instructions to use the safe were so old & worn out you couldn't read them. The shower wouldn't work properly, so I had to call the person in reception to assist us in getting it working. You had to get out of the shower cubicle to retrieve shower gel/shampoo/soap. There was nowhere in the shower to put these items. There was no room in the shower at all. I moved the stool in the bathroom to put my shower gel on it & two legs fell off the stool. The toilet roll holder wouldn't hold the toilet roll and it kept falling off. The bathroom bin was broken and filthy The breakfast ran until 10 am, the bread ran out & was not replaced & this was before 9 am. I am a travel agent & book many guests to stay in cities around the world including Venice I was upset that this hotel was an extremely poor standard and felt like it ruined the end of my beautiful holiday in Italy. We would be extremely grateful if you could offer us a credit for our next hotel booking with trip.com, we are in the process of booking our November Asia tour. Kindest regards

We stayed at this hotel in October for 3 nights, it was in the 40s at night, and there was no heat. It was very cold and damp. When we asked the front desk, they said they had not switched the heat on yet. It was quite cold in the room, and they provided us with a space heater which did improve the situation, but there was no fire escape or sprinklers in the hotel, so it felt very unsafe. The bathroom was quite small and the shower tiny. I am petite, but I dropped the soap but could not get it without getting out of the shower. The breakfast was ok. The positives were the location and the front desk staff. I did not catch the man's name, but he was blond and very friendly and helpful. He gave us great directions for getting back to the train station by ferry.

The bed was quite large and very comfortable. The bathroom had a nice power shower with a modern spa-style set up with various jets, so was great for the end of a day spent walking around all the canals. It was very warm, despite the time of year, and the rooms were cleaned daily. There was plenty of choice at breakfast time, all served up with a smile, and all the staff were friendly and helpful. It is situated very conveniently for St Mark's Square, Rialto Bridge, the water bus stop at San Zaccharia and the Alilaguna (airport bus) so easy to get to from the airport as well. We have had a lovely time.

Gentleman at the front desk was very enthusiastic and friendly. Rooms are definitely dated, bed was uncomfortable and bathrooms (single room) were very tiny, I could barely move after I got out the shower. My room has a really nice patio that overlooked the canal which was very nice. Very good location.
