Decent hotel at an affordable price, centrally located and convenient to tourist attractions/restaurants. Take note that you have to deposit your room key each time you leave the room. Cleaning staff is friendly. Room size is a lot smaller than as shown in photos.

All the staff were friendly and helpful! There was no musty smell and the place seemed well-cleaned. It was too narrow to open up a large suitcase.

It is a very old hotel, the beds are not comfortable. I saw a huge bug in the room. They said it was because of the humidity. The staff was friendly. I don't think I will go again.

Honestly, after reading all of these reviews and being a little squeamish about hotels, I was very nervous for our stay but we were VERY pleasantly surprised. We stayed in room 105 and it was perfect for what we needed, the air conditioning was some of the best of all our stays in Italy, the location was central, the bed was comfortable and clean and the bathroom did the trick! While the bathroom was definitely dated, it was clean and the shower was roomy with great water pressure and temperature! I know some people complain about having to drop off their keys, but it was nice to not have to worry about carrying them around and losing them! Definitely recommend :)

It smells bad and the rooms are not always clean. The workers are not the nicest and barely speak. The receptionists are ok. Positioning is ok, otherwise clean needs to be done more often. Change some things at the reception and everything will be fine.

Workers don't know how to read a do not disturb sign. Specifically told every front desk attendant I did not want any one in my room. Came back after a boat day to find someone had been in my room. Thankfully didn't have money in there but not sure what the went through. Would not recommend.

We stayed here for 2 nights. Such a quaint little hotel. Not many rooms but so much charm. There is a rooftop terrace too. Breakfast available (10euros PP) There were 3 of us staying in the room and there was plenty of room. The bathroom had a bathtub as well as a shower which was nice. Very central to all the shops / restaurants. We got lost a few times so make sure you always have your phone for google maps. We stored some of our luggage at Venezia Centrale so we didn’t have to lug them up all the stairs and bridges. This was a godsend.

This hotel is really good. It is located in the centre of Venice, a few hundred metres form most of the famous tourist attractions, and close to a place withe bars, restaurants and shops. Hotel Castello has a staff that is both very friendly and helpful. Hotel Castello is really recommendable.for a stay in Venice.

I wish I had read the reviews before booking this place. I reserved and prepaid a room with 2 double beds but on arrival we found out that our room had been sold to someone else and we were given probably the claustrophobic room the other guests are talking about: room 128, at the end of the hall on the third floor, probably the worst room they have, for sure the further. As others pointed out, the room is so small that you cannot even open part of the wardrobe since there's not enough space. The bathroom was equally small, with no windows and without even a bidet. On top of that, the room smelled really bed and we were advised not to open the window (!) for not letting mosquitos in (in November with 5 degrees outside? No wonder it smelled awful). The heating was off the entire time even though they said it was centralized and they had forgotten to put additional blankets in the wardrobe, so that when we arrived late at night we had no option than spend a cold, miserable night. On the following day, they apologized with lots of excuses (heating was off because of the previous customer, the cleaning lady had forgotten to put the blankets, the room WITH 2 DOUBLE BEDS CLEARLY SPECIFIED in the reservation was not guaranteed and it was our fault for not claiming it (???) and so on, I asked for a partial refund for all the hassle, but they kept denying any compensation, even accusing us of complaining in order to have their buffet breakfast included when I said to the agency that not even coffee was offered to apologize for our nightmare stay ( I'd like to mention that I'm among the few that never eat anything at breakfast, just to make clear how dishonest are these people). The only positive note is that the agency apologized for our terrible experience and granted us a small refund, recognizing that the terms of the contract haven't been respected.

Hotel in a great location a short walk from st marks square. Rooms are decorated well, clean and had AC. The room was fairly small but we didn't spend much time in it. There is a great little roof terrace you can sit out on and have a glass of wine. Staff were friendly and helpful. We were able to store our luggage, as our flight home wasn't till late which was handy. The only thing I would warn people about is that there is no lift so if you struggle with stairs, have heavy luggage or have a wheelchair or buggy this isn't ideal.
