We just stayed at this hotel and had one of the most horrible, and frankly distressing customer experiences in my entire adult life. Yes, it sounds like I’m exaggerating, but here it is - my wife is a diamond member, and we have used Best Western hotels for decades at this point, because of the consistency and availability, no matter where we are in the United States. I mention this, not to say that we think we’re extra special, but to say that we have had hundreds of stays at various Best Westerns, so this is by far the worst experience. When we booked the room, my wife thought that the room would have laminate flooring, like the picture showed. When we got to the room, it was rather worn, with old carpet, stains on the blanket and WiFi that wouldn’t connect if you used your computer. Now, all that is definitely disappointing, but we’re not inexperienced travelers; we know that sometimes the room doesn’t match exactly and life isn’t perfect - that’s part of traveling. However, I wanted to let the person at the front know what happened. And that’s when **it hit the fan. I asked the person on duty if the rooms have laminate flooring and he replied that only the first floor has that kind of flooring and that they were booked by Halliburton until the end of the year (it’s currently March) and those rooms will be unavailable. So I said that it seems a little misleading to use that as the picture of the room you’re booking if you don’t have that room actually available. First he said that corporate makes him do this. After some RESPECTFUL back and forth, reiterating my concern, he then responded that he has the right to refuse service and that this is the way it is at all the hotels he owns (yes, he immediately escalated). I then said that we have stayed at many different Best Western and this is not the norm. So he responded that we are now banned from all his 86 hotels. I left, came back and asked for his name and he responded with “it’s on the card.” It said “RC (I can’t remember the last name) - HR Manager. So I then called Customer Service and was told that I can be banned for any reason. This was supposed to be a restful, Easter vacation before we finish out the school year. Now we’re stressed out that we may not be able to stay at a Best Western in Texas. At no point did I raise my voice, speak derogatory towards him, or threaten this person. We have NEVER had a problem with the front desk clerks. I sincerely hope that this person isn’t in charge of Human Resources. I hope that I am able to get in contact with someone in Omkishan LLC.
