Volcano Hotel

We really enjoyed our stay here. It’s quiet, only about 7 rooms. The girl working when we arrived is just the nicest and so hardworking. She was a huge help the day we arrived running our drenched clothing through the dryer for us. We will be forever grateful for that. Rooms are very spacious and clean. It’s sorta middle ground, not a fancy place by any means, but also a step above basic. Breakfast was lovely and included freshly scrambled eggs. They have great blackout curtains for blocking the never setting Iceland sun. There did seem to be a bit of a funky drain smell in the bathroom at times that wafted. Location was great for getting to Vik, black sand beaches, glacier hike, etc.
Hótel Kría

Nice hotel property in beautiful little Vik. A very welcoming and pleasant staff greeted us. We chatted with the check in person plus bartender and both were easy to talk to and shared their experience of living in Iceland. The room was reasonably priced, comfortable and just right for our one night in town. The restaurant is situated so diners have a nice Mountain and church view, plus the food was very good. Breakfast buffet was way above average and included in the price. Our only regret was our lack of time we could spend in Vik, so many places, so little time.

The cabin is a two-suite, the room is big enough, the facilities are good, the wooden house is backed by the cliff, facing the town of Vic, one kilometer away is the black beach. The paid breakfast is richer.
Hotel Katla by Keahotels

Hotel Katla is located a few miles outside Vik. There is a central building that houses the restaurant and a number of separate buildings with guest rooms. There is an outside hot tub and a small lake. The rooms are good quality and spacious. The breakfast room is large and the breakfast was fine although we often had wait for items that had run out to be topped up. There is plenty of parking on site.

Gentle people in the reception desk, clean place, really comfortable beds and soft bed sheets. Nice architecture design and aesthetics. I booked one night in the Hostel part, so I slept with lots of different people in the same room. This means that you will have ofcourse the other people's sounds in the bedroom, and it;s ok when everyone is showing some empathy for the others around. But even if you are with other people, there are these perfect minimal curtains on each bed which can create a dark warm place for you to sleep like when you were in your mothers belly ^_^ hehe There is also a ”private lamp” inside of each bed space which you can use with your curtains close and have some privasy iwith light at night too! I assume that the private rooms will be nice, as well. I totally recommmend it if you need a place for a night. The sourrounding view is awesome, too as well as the places you can visit in this area!
Hótel Dyrhólaey

We stayed here as the mid-point stop on our way to Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon. It is true that because it’s one of the larger hotels in the area, it is used by large tour groups, but that did not interfere with our stay at all. It is a roadside hotel, don’t expect any luxuries, but perfect for a one or two night stay. The rooms are very spacious and clean (because it’s a busy hotel, your room may not be ready before check-in time). The restaurant is large and they were able to accommodate us with no problem for dinner, and their breakfast buffet (included in the rate) is fantastic. It also has a great view. The location is great, close to Dyrholaey, Vik and Reynsfjara (black sand beach). Pro-tip: if you have dirty laundry, they will do it for you for about $25 per bag regardless of the size. I thought it was expensive so didn’t do it, and regretted it - everywhere else was either more expensive or didn’t offer the service at all. The staff works so hard - I saw the same person cleaning my room helping out at the restaurant, and everyone was very pleasant.
